I just started playing Trauma Center for DS on OpenEmu the other day. I'm using keyboard and mouse, which I'm sure isn't ideal, but I'm making do for now. I'm in chapter 2-4 and am finding this one aneurysm I'm supposed to cut just impossible to complete. See attached photos - it shows up at the top of the screen, and the cutting route is obscured by the vitals UI and the top dots are cut off on the screen. I can't tell if I'm not cutting fast enough (wasn't a problem with the other aneurysms), or if those cut-off dots can't register when I move my pointer by them. Is this a glitch? (Note: first screenshot is from a walkthrough on YouTube, the next two are from my emulator shows while playing.)

Wasn't sure whether to put this in Emulation or Nintendo, if mods see this feel free to relocate accordingly.

I completed the game on NO$GBA years ago so I know it's not the fault of the game itself. You may also try DeSmuME.

But I kinda remember the game sometimes changed the way "gameplay" should be due to story reasons because sometimes condition of the patients gets too different so it may require you to change the way you do stuff. Try to see if your approach is correct to pass the game:

This is why I only play on original hardware. Playing stylus heavy games on emulator feels like junk too.

That's exactly why I bought NDS to play Ni no Kuni properly lol.

Unrelated but I don't recommend playing this game on emulator. The later levels are harder on their own with stylus... I can't imagine what's like with mouse

while this is a good suggestion, I′m afraid the emulator OpenEmu for Nintendo DS games is DeSmuME and I can only assume any bugs in OpenEmu would be replicated in the standalone version

perhaps melonDS would be a better choice

you can get the latest GitHub build for macOS here: https://nightly.link/melonDS-emu/melonDS/workflows/build-macos-universal/master/macOS-universal.zip

alternatively, the 1.0 build can be downloaded from this page: https://melonds.kuribo64.net/downloads.php

there is also a port of melonDS to RetroArch, but I recommend the confusingly named “melonDS DS” core instead since it is more up-to-date

Okay, i have played this game in DeSmuMe in the past... (Yup! with mouse and keyboard!)
But just to be safe, i played it again until the point you mentioned.

The problem is not related to emulation.
You have used the in-game Magnifying tool, and zoomed in on an area.
You should simply zoom out again, and zoom-in on a different area.
I hope this helps. 😊

You are right but for troubleshooting, since even changing one of emulators' own setting can make problems go away lol gotta also follow the idea of sometimes the problem can happen due to a problematic core that the same problem may not happen on the emulator itself that's not a core. Frontends may seem convenient but if you have a problem better try on a separate emulator to see what's up just in case.

.........It didn't even dawn on me that I'd need to zoom out and focus on a different area. 😅 Yep, that's all I needed to do. I'm dumb.

I doubt I'll be able to play the whole thing, I'm just seeing what the game's like. You know how the miracle healing slows down time? My current trick is to do that in real life: I pause the emulator (not the game) when I need to move the mouse between icons and the spot I need to do something, unpause to select or do an action, then immediately pause again and move my mouse to the next spot or icon. Wash, rinse, repeat. I'm smart. (Making circles or slashes is still slow, of course.)

Well, i'm honest too! i couldn't beat it without cheating either! ::winkfelix
My cheat was to slow down the emulator... that way, i could do things at a manageable speed! ⏳
