I'm a massive Tony Hawk fan. I've played just about all of them and liked most of what I've seen. But in delving into as much THPS content as i can get, I've fully realized how different the 5th and 6th gen levels are. Look at Los Angeles and Canada from THPS3 for some examples. I haven't come across a level i just plain don't like that i do like on an earlier or later console, but i do have my preferred versions. I was wondering if other people had their own opinions on this or generally people take either or.

For my two cents i actually like the PS1's take on canada a bit more than the PS2's.

Perhaps I liked THUG 2's level design better because there were too many opportunities to do tricks and all and most importantly you could roam around the whole map again and again without breaking combos that was ensured in a fun way for the players with ease. Earlier games had the issue for me that small maps don't offer much variety for tricks and bigger maps are more like every places for tricks are too away so THUG 2's levels filled with lots of places to do tricks with great variety IMO.

In that context if I had to limit my pick for PS1 ones' level designs I would say the 3rd was the best for me.

While I generally enjoyed the level design of all the entries up until THP8. The level design in 3 and 4 just hits different for me, just the right balance of tight level design and pseudo-open world elements.

THUG2 had a fun story, characters, soundtrack and levels. It's the one I played the most. I enjoyed American Wasteland too, but it wasn't as "care-free" and content rich as Underground

I think American Wasteland has a "weird charisma" that's hard to explain.

Can't create a character so you just choose it which is a big negative for me.

And then missions are boring.

Gameplay is not too different.

Locations are nothing special but ok.

The main woman that talks a lot has an annoying voice.

Musics are ok but "wow".

Yet IDK perhaps I like California way more than I realize. Well once you taste the nuclear heat of the Majove you can't do without it, partner! Well I guess my love for Vampire Masquerade Bloodlines and Fallout New Vegas draws me into American Wasteland and its American Nightmare™ lolol.
