Okay, Im not sure if this is just rose tinted glasses from when I owned a ps3 at the time but, the orignal larger console, the older box art, the choppy 25-30 fps, the graphics, the devs trying to understand the hardware of the ps3, and whole "aesthetic" makes me come back to my old phat 3 rather than my ps5 which gains more and more dust throught the days.

I miss the days on playing PlaystaionHome or first getting Drake's Fortune.
Me and my friend would recreate the scene where Drake jumps out of Sullys plane (we where like 6-7) by jumping off my radiator onto my bed.

Or how we'd play Little big planet 1 (which in my opinion is the best one out of the 3 main games) and replay that one map where you were on this island.

Of course with anything there were issues but i was too young to care at the time so HA!

Hope this doesn't come rambly or incoherent, do I sound crazy or weird?
Theres gotta be other people who get what I mean with the vibe of the older days of the Playstation 3.

Anyways thanks for reading.
(I should really draw a sketch of me geeking over the ps3, actual Autism moment)

Nah man, i get the vibes honestly, it were good years for gaming, PS3 COD was going crazy specially since PSN didn't need to be paid to play online at that time, i remember playing on my cousin's PS3 Drake's Fortune and man, i remember just sitting on grandma's couch and seeing Nathan walking in the desert, such a vibe

I totally forgot about PSN, playing online on a console without a monthly subscription is unheard in this day and age lmao.
The ps3 is really good for budget gaming in that sense I suppose.

I Have specific memory of one scene in the game where you was on a back of a car shooting at people and I remember my friend and I kept trying to snatch the controller off eachtoher to play it, Uncharted Drake's Fortune nearly destroyed my friendship.

Going from playing on my Dad's ps1 to then high definition (at the time) Hd gaming blew my tiny mind.
Just wished sony went back to making more games that weren't "safe" ya'know?

We all understand that. It's one of the last great gen for gaming consoles before it slowly went downhill, it's the triumph of 7th gen

Microsoft's influence destroyed the online gaming for many consoles and then they destroyed themselves with Xbox One

It was the experimentation of games that did it. The risks that companies took. Mind you, this was before the recession so companies had money to spend. I won't get into the politics of it, only that it's the reason why very few companies take risks now. If anything it's just indie devs taking risks. I miss those days of AAA devs trying something new. Now all we have is games as a service. Always online games with indefinite skin releases. Because of this, most of my time is spend playing older games. I would play the occasional new release. I'm currently playing Final Fantasy VII Remake because I want to play Rebirth, but other than that it's games from 2 generations ago.

Luckily we have plenty of people that have the knowledge to repair older consoles and a community keeping emulation alive. If it isn't for that then quite a few of us would've dropped off of gaming midway through the PS4/XBO days.

No nostalgia possible here, never had any playstation, but PS3 is the last one of them that I secretly envied, so it's valid.

I will say, I have seen a lack of Enthusiasm, Production, and Overall Pageantry.
More hype used to go into the presentation of these games and consoles.
Game reveals and ad campaigns used to be Chinese New Year levels of celebration to my memory.
You wanna talk about the falloff of the midnight release? I remember The midnight lines for the Halos.
We've seen Shakespeare levels of Theatre to promote some games and now the general vibe is Here's a game, buy it.
I'm looking at you Square Enix

I miss the PS3 and X360 rivalry.
I remember me and my friends at school would bicker with eachother on which one was better "WELL THE XBOX HAS HALO" "BUT THE PS3 HAS UNCHARTED" "BUT THE XBOX HAS A BETTER CONTROLLER" BUT THE PS3 HAS BETTER GAMES" Etc Etc.

There was a time where we'd try'd to convice the other people in class to join each side like it was some sort of factions.

I feel theres so much over saturation with battle royals and mircotransactions, sure they were there in the ps3/ xbox 360 genration but it didnt feel as forced upon ya'know?

i've really been needing to get around to playing Final Fantasy VII, I have it on my ps1 and got the remake on my ps5 but just haven't touched it yet.

I have a Switch, but I keep going back to my Vita and 3DS :) Probably the same rose tinted glasses here, but that's what's happening.
The vita was such an underrated handheld, wish he had another uncharted on it or another LBP.

God I miss midnight releases, me and my dad would constantly do midnight releases when I was younger.
I remember me and my dad got the gta 5 or 4 day one release and the next morning I went bragging to my friends at school.

Its even worse than that, its "we have a broken game coming out in 6 months buy it NOW, and maybe it will be 30% less broken at release day via a patch that is basically the entire game. :(

the evolution in graphics/game quality from ps2 to ps3 levels, was actually way more insane than the ps4 and ps5 ''upgrade'' have, i get what you mean, it isnt nostalgia and all, current era of gaming sucks, the video game industry relies mostly on remakes/remasters of older games, from older eras, and most of them, are easy cashgrabs, with barely proper upscale, meanwhile, the emulator teams do better upscales, thats why, they so popular, plus, they update way more often and fix the issues

thats why most aaa games fail atm, they think ''full hd'' graphics will save a game and they focus on that, meanwhile, they miss actual points like story, plot, characters quality, replay value and writing, plus incomplete games which need patches and other issues on a technical level + dlc madness combo

the 6th and 7th gen of gaming still remain the best era for games, for me, simpler times, the actual good times
