The Vampire Hunter D PS1 game would be pretty good with a control patch/mod.

Seriously, I can't really think of anything objectionably bad about it aside from D's tank movement/combat not being as good as say Soul of the Samurai or RE3.

I wholeheartedly agree. Don't get me wrong, tank controls have their place. In a tank, I understand why the game controls the way it does, it was the style at the time and trying to do what Resident Evil/Biohazard did.

But no, a rework of the controls would make the game a thousand times better, honestly.

The voice acting isn't terrible, but very VERY dry.

They're rough even by PS1 era tank controls. I'd make his sheathed movement "2D," then give him a lock on for his sword drawn mechanics. And, that would got a long way to making it more playable. Also, giving him a non inventory item/skill switch would be pretty good, too.

The problem is it is such a niche game.
Getting anyone who could or can do what you want would either A. Cost a fortune or B. Be half-assed since they would do it for free.

It really would take a few people at least with very knowledgeable skills to fix the controls alone and make it work right, let alone the inventory and other things. And that is if changing the control code alone wouldn't completely break the game to begin with.

I don't think cost is even a factor here. No way you could pay somebody to do this. It's a either passion fan project or bust.
