The End ...

I'm not trying to be mean, but unless this is intended to be freeform poetry, this isn't an article; it reads like notes someone jotted down while watching a "history of games" video essay. I can't speak on behalf of the site and whoever approves these things, but I will say that if you're legitimately interested in having an article, go read the others that are already on the site. Take note of how they use things like sentence structure and punctuation. Good luck.

Hey, not trying to be harsh or anything, but I think this could be improved a bit:

  • Grammar & punctuation: Some punctuation’s missing, and a few sentences feel off. Cleaning that up would make it way more legibly written.
  • Tone: It might benefit from a slightly more formal tone, just enough to feel polished without losing personality.
  • Formatting: There are quite a few indentations. Reducing them could make the layout cleaner and easier to follow.
(I really hope this helps!)

(My "fixed" version)

After a few years, Pong was released. It’s like ping pong, but you’re a wall deflecting a ball into a goal. The game went viral in arcades because it had a score counter, simple, addictive, and revolutionary.

Then came Space Invaders. The developer wanted fast-moving aliens, but the hardware couldn’t handle it. So he made them slow. But as players shot more aliens, the system sped up, creating one of the first examples of progressive difficulty.

In the late ’80s, the term “gamer” was born, someone who plays video games daily. Around this time, Atari partnered with the creators of the E.T. movie to make a game. The developers only had a few weeks before Christmas. The game launched, sold well… and then players hated it. It was confusing, rushed, and nearly unplayable. Atari crashed, and E.T. became one of the most infamous games ever.

Years later, gaming bounced back. Companies like Sega and Nintendo entered the market, each with their own mascots, Sonic the hedgehog and Super Mario. Let’s rewind a bit:

Nintendo originally wanted to make a Popeye game but couldn’t get the license. So they made Donkey Kong instead. Mario was Popeye, Pauline was Olive, and Donkey Kong was Bluto.

Sega’s Sonic? Inspired by Dragon Ball’s Goku.

Nintendo dominated until 1996, when Sony dropped the PlayStation. Wait, Sony? The company that made rice cookers, cameras, and TVs? Yep. And their console had 32-bit power, while the SNES was still at 16-bit. Game developers flocked to Sony.

Nintendo responded with the Nintendo 64, 64-bit, but limited to 5 Megabyte (5MB) cartridges. Then Sony released the PlayStation 2 with 128-bit power. A new challenger appeared: Xbox, an American company. The original Xbox had a massive controller nicknamed “The Duke” that was later resized for Japanese players.

Sega released the Dreamcast, which flopped so hard they exited the console business. Nintendo launched the GameCube, underrated, but loved by many.

Meanwhile, Mortal Kombat was so violent it helped create the age rating system known as ESRB ratings. Street Fighter had a combo glitch that became a core mechanic and changed fighting games forever.

Fast forward to E3: Sony revealed the PlayStation 3 (PS3) design. Fans hated it, so they stuck with a more traditional look. In 2005, Xbox launched the Xbox 360 a huge success. PS3 also did well. But Nintendo’s Wii stole the show with motion controls. It was genius. Sony tried to copy it, but their version flopped.

Then came the Wii U… and it failed. PlayStation 4 (PS4) and Xbox One launched. Xbox required extra devices and Game Pass, even for games you already owned. PS4 took the win.

Years later, Nintendo released the Switch. It had the weakest hardware but dominated in sales.

Then came the PlayStation 5 (PS5) and Xbox Series X. PS5 had few new games, mostly remasters. Xbox had better graphics and GPU power.

(So long story short, this could use some fixing.)

Edit: I hate this character limit >:(
