They're commenting on something off on the sword hit-box, can anybody explain that, please?

The lack of compassion in these comments for people who have disabilities like limited motor skill functions that could damper the amount of time someone could play a game, or neurological issues that impact memory which could potentially make navigation a nightmare, is disappointing but not unexpected. If you don't like a hack or translation, you could very simply just not play it. Not everything is for everyone.

Thank you to the hack creator for making this more accessible to people who may not prefer to play the original for whatever reason.

I stopped posting in the forums because of issues like this within the community shortly after the forums opened, and I'm sad that Disqus was replaced with a direct link back to that community. After seeing these comments, I'm disheartened that I'll have to avoid comment sections on all games on the site going forward because of this change.

ur gunna get shitty people in comment sections cuz they have nothing better to do in there lives then make a fake profile shit talk then when they get called out they play the victim card and cry about it and fuck off learn to ignore stupid people I just laugh at there stupid comments cuz it shows how low there IQ really is and how low they will go to shit on peoples gaming preferences. there generic insults are mostly go back to fortnight or cod ur not a real gamer cuz u like B over A oh u like mods in ur game that's lame real gamers don't use mods shit like that

It's not generalistic as you are saying. There are people and people. ONE possible path to deal with some necessities, might be using a romhack like this. Some or many players, "disable" or not, may find this OPTION interest or not. Is it not for me, for you, or for whatever person for whatever reason? Fine. It doesn't mean that if someone choose to play this OPTION, they are "unworthy" of video games, or "normies with no skills", or "posers" merely wanting to fake they played the original Zelda. The world of possibilities are bigger then the ones we know at first (as some previous comments suggested).

Secondly, you are criticizing other commenter for "saying shit on their behalf" and then you do the same, saying how stuff are for other people in a determinant way, even tho what you're saying goes to an opposite dirrection. Even if you are a person with disabilities, you are not ALL of them, and each will want to deal with their necessities in a different way. It's not difficult to meet personally or to find online a PwD that would disagree with you (or agree too). That's plural.

All that being said............. casual experience for new players. Casual. New players. It's not damaging the original game or overwritting it, as if it was equivalent to a remake being published by N*ntendo in 2025 or something, replacing the access to the original game. C'mon.

It's just one more option for specific people who MAYBE can relate to the hack proposal. As any other hack.

I'm not coming from this with the perspective of "people who play this way are normie casuals, not real gamers like me". There are plenty of beginner friendly games I enjoy like the Mario or Kirby games. Legend of Zelda isn't even beginner unfriendly, though, considering a lot of kids in the 80s played it just fine, and it might have even been a lot of people's first game. It eases players fairly gently into the more difficult or cryptic stuff (i.e. making earlier dungeons easier to find than later ones and allocating harder enemies in the farther reaches of the map).

Honestly, I think this romhack is more interesting for people like me who have played this game a lot and this would be quite a novel experience. It just annoys the crap out of me when people clutch to the "it's easier to be more accessible to disabled players!" when not only is it blatantly not. It's hardly respectful to their intelligence or capabilities to completely cripple the game on their behalf. All this would do for them is completely remove the pillar for the game's experience. Why even play it at that point? If the point of the game is the thrill of exploration and that whole aspect is removed then disabled and casual players are just given a game with no purpose that doesn't inspire any kind of minfulness on their part. It's not like the dungeons or the combat is anything to write home about, they're completely simplified for a reason. And I know for a fact that most disabled players hate this idea that games have to handhold them the entire way through in order to be accessible. I've seen many speak out against it under the same logic that able-bodied or non-neurologically impaired players (mainly journalists) are insisting that hard games are inaccessible, specifically, to disabled players.

I'm not exactly against this rom hack existing. Like I said, it's kind of a novel hack for people like me that have played this game to death. New players should not start here, though. It's not the same experience as just exploring Hyrule and being overjoyed every time you find a cave or dungeon. Quite frankly, it's a good idea for a romhack but it should not be an option for casual/beginner players. Anyone that just doesn't want to explore in a game all about exploring should just play something else. Options like this shouldn't exist because it doesn't benefit anyone. It just rewards lazy players, rather than easing in casual/beginner players

Okay, that's not a thing, though, and people with disabilities really don't like people saying shit like this on their behalf. Disabled players can be just as good, if not better, than some able-bodied or non-neurologically impared people and things like this are nothing but condescending towards them. If people are so disabled that they can't play video games then chances are they aren't playing video games, much less seeking out a specific rom hack of this exact game. On top of that, if they have some impairment that affects their memory, they'll either read a guide or make notes themselves. Nobody is so disabled that they can't play Legend of Zelda.

Anyway, moderated the comments now.

Believe me it was way worse with random and more anonymous visitors commenting stuff when we were using Disqus. The change to the forum comment system allow us to control the environment much better. Anyway, you don't need to click in the link that throws you back to the forum, you still can click only in the "comments" to see just that.

I'm all for more ways to play games. Different people will enjoy different approaches to the same content, and diversity is always a positive. Imagine if only chocolate ice cream existed. It would be pretty sad.

tbh it doesn't even need to be motor skills. A friend of mine is great at Celeste and completed Getting Over It, they just really don't like games with too much undirected wandering.

Plus you could make a weird speedrun category out of it if people played it enough.

I'm all for romhacks with simple QOL fixes, but this takes it way too far. Whats next? mario without bottomless pits? or how about sonic but there is no obstacles just a straight line with loops and dash panels. if i wanted to play a zelda game without a guide id just play a different zelda game. This almost seems like a joke... like something you'd see on april fools
