The Council: What I expected VS What I got (Spoilers)

What I expected: Telltale style political intrigue and Muder mystery, featuring major historical figures

What I got: Demon family drama, your mom is actually your sister and the woman you slept with is related to you (you might have slept with her twin too)

What other games take a big swerve like this?

what i expected: the same game but with an added prehistoric and future era

what i got: every era (including the ones already in the base game) is about as long as 2/3 of the original tech tree on average and there like 4 future eras on top of the prehistoric era, also your cities have a disease amount now that is separate from the unhealthiness amount and you can found scientology.

The Council had such a strong start, I thought it was gonna be one of my favorite telltale style game until the twists you mentioned. I didn't even buy the last episode and just looked up the ending. I was hoping for some Assassins Creed style alternate history but it just ended up being small scale family drama
