I stumbled across this tonight, and I just had to share the discovery.
The Website: Lets Find Pokémon.info
So, tonight I remembered a childhood favorite book of mine: Let’s Find Pokémon. It’s a Where’s Waldo or ISpy type of picture book that features the Pokémon cast, with each page being a beautiful and chaotic menagerie of all the creatures from a region. I only ever knew about the Gen 1 books, and actually only had ever seen the one book I had myself, the “Special Complete Edition” of the Kanto series of books. It’s a trilogy, with the first book establishing the concept, the second getting more wild with locations and ideas (like a dream of Pikachu Forest where the entire image is filled with differently posed Pikachu that themselves form a giant Pikachu), and the third having an ongoing narrative involving Team Rocket, as well as one of the hardest book covers I’ve ever seen.
I wanted to know if there were more books, perhaps a Johto one, and I stumbled across this website in the process. So happy I did. This Neocities page acts as amazing and personal hub of information regarding the entire series. I had NO IDEA that we got books with this brand up through Gen 8, with perhaps one still coming for Gen 9? As well, we got translations of them all up through the first Gen 4 book. And the website is even translating the ones we never got here in the west! I can’t over state how much I love this site, and you know I have it bookmarked so hard.
What really sticks out about this site is the passion and love on display for something so niche. The web master has such a beautifully human way of presenting information, and it really helps this feelinh of both learning as well as seeing a passion project come to life. The best example of this BY FAR is the Kalos page. There was no book in the series for Kalos, and that bothered the web master. So much so that they went out of their way to create their own dream image for a Gen 6 book! You’re seeing it above, and it’s amazing.
Go see this website to have a good time on the internet with a niche, dumb subject that some of us may care about.
Also, check out my Trainer Card that I rushed into existence. I was inspired by the web master’s card to make one, and mine is more than a little scuffed.
