It’s the question of the millennium! Which game on Dreamcast marks the best fighting game on the console TO YOU? Which one is your favorite?

I SOMEHOW forgot to add SoulCalibur and Dead or Alive 2.
Respond with a 🔥 reaction for SoulCalibur. The soul still burns!

Respond with a 😉 for Dead or Alive. You know why.

It's a hard between between Alpha 3 and MVC2. On one hand, I like playing Ken in all his gorgeous ponytailed glory.
On the other hand, playing Ken with Ryu and SAKURA is just too tempting. So MVC2 for that reason alone.

I would include Soul Calibur to the list, awesome game.
My vote would go to either that or DOA2. I know people call it a gooner game, but it's a lot of fun.

OH GOD! I FORGOT TO ADD BOTH OF THOSE! Nah, I need to tweak the list, because those are like THE Dreamcast 3D fighters.

While I have a slight preference towards Third Strike, the dreamcast release has input delay and the parry timing is different compared to the arcade version.

Marvel 2 on DC fixed the Ruby Heart glitch from the arcade version, and is the version I've played the most, so my vote went to Marvel 2!

The 3D fighters on DC are no joke, either!

From the list: Project Justice
Not on the list: Mark of the wolves
3d: Either Soul Calibur or Dead or Alive 2 Limited.

I won't say third strike since the Dreamcast port sucked, especially competitively. I'm mixed between MVC 2 and CVS 2, both of them are amazing crossover fighters but I think I might have to go with Cvs since I've probably spent more time playing it. It's way easier for me to play since it doesn't have 5000 things going on at once.

From the list 2D: CVS2 or MVC2
From the list 3D: Project Justice or Tech Romancer
Not on list: Psychic Force 2012

It really is SoulCalibur. Day One, Dreamcast had one of the best fighting games ever made - and one of the best games the console would ever have. Even with the sequels adding more and more, it's still an incredibly well-made, deep game with so many extras to unlock and experience.

Plus, it's one of the few games on this list that isn't held back by the default Dreamcast controller! Six-button fighters were a bit unwieldy, especially when having to use both the D-Pad and triggers. Fighters using four buttons (or less) tended to fare much better, and SoulCalibur is certainly aided by the fact that it controls well with the joystick.

My runner-up might be Street Fighter Alpha 3, though I prefer to play it on the Saturn due to the controller. If only there were an easier way to use Saturn pads with the Dreamcast...

Capcom vs SNK 2 has really grown on me over the years. It has some of the madcap feel of Marvel vs Capcom 2 without going too far off the deep end, as a previous user had mentioned.

It might get my third-place vote, if this game didn't exist...

Pair it with one of these bad boys, and you've got a DC fighting game like no other 🥳

I love it, but from what I remember that port was censored(the blood I think)
That's true. I had an uncensored-patch version I burned onto a disk back then, now that I think about it.
