rissing zan is a curious game that I came across while wandering around YouTube, it's about a samurai cowboy, absurd but original premise.

It is a very fun action and adventure game, its levels range from the Wild West to feudal Japan, and you can fight with both other cowboys and samurai.

Tell me that other games like this that are little or not known at all on the PS1 recommend that they be good, I'm tired of the typical Resident Evil and Crash Bandicoot and I'm looking for an excuse to return to Duckstation please.

There is only one Super Ultra Sexy Hero, sadly.

There's a Barbie game that has a version of Snake that's like a conga line, might be the single best version of Snake.

I remember seeing Rising Zan in a game store when I was younger and the cover art alone made me want a PS1 for it. The other game was DBZ Legends

A game I don't think I've seen anyone ever talk about is Internal Section

Really cool shooting game kind of in the style of Tempest, but you have different types of weapons all based on Chinese Zodiac symbols each with different properties which adds a layer of strategy to each level as you switch between different weapons for different situations.

There are a few different Digimon games that
support the PocketStation as a Digimon V-Pet where you download and then unlock more Digimon types from the game as you progress raising them with the PocketStation.

Omega Boost

It should be a well known game yet no one ever mentions it.

If you're not a South East Asian millennials, you would literally never heard of this game.
It's basically PS1 Army Men games but much, MUCH better.

One of the best PS1 mech adventure games made by Inti Creates right before their well known infamy of Rockman Zero and Gunvolt series.
The racing beat-em-up gameplay is just absolutely addicting though I wish they give more varied stages and bosses.

Fun racer where your car can flip over and still run. The gimmick works great with tracks that loop and have upside-down parts.

Vandal Hearts II (USA)-250213-010250.png

Vandal Hearts 2.
Many seem to dislike this game because its not like the original Vandal Hearts but as someone who played both for the first time I find VH2 the superior game.
While the art direction seems dry, it actually fits the setting very well and besides the magic animations are amazingly well done.
I like the story and writing better than FFT. FFT, not even the psp Shakespeare version, tries too hard to sound memorable so doesn't feel natutal.
VH2 characters speak like someone normal would.
Also feel the character and art makes the very serious story have the weight it needs since its relatively realistic and character sprites arent chibi like FFT or TO.
Gameplay seems something people find either too hard or easy. To me it was a middle ground, specially if you get a save and do advanced mode. And now that we have a patch that makes it play like FE (Enemy and Player phases) then there's now an option for those not a fan of its gameplay.
Anyways one of my favorite retro games. I kinda struggle to get into games but VH2 caught me from the go. Such an intro.

I'm not gonna mince words here, the battle system can be rough but everything else about this one is stellar, especially for the time. This game went on to spawn the Shadow Hearts series which is a marked improvement. I honestly think that Koudelka would be among top tier RPGs for the system if they just stuck to the tried and true JRPG battles but alas it is what it is, a diamond in the rough that's brought down by one big flaw. Still, definitely worth a shot.

Need for Speed V-Rally was a really good competitor in the beginning of the Rallisport title boom that really started to grow around the PS2/Xbox Era.

The PS1 port of Sled Storm also very fun

Speed Punks/Speed Freaks was the best Mario Kart Knock off that wasn't Crash Team Racing.

Evil-Zone is a decent Anime Fighting game on PS1. Proper 90's Anime Cheese.

Don't know if this counts. It's a survival horror where the plot is basically Blade Runner meets 2001: A Space Odyssey. Quite difficult boss battles. There is a very creepy level where you're in a hotel and the inhabitants slowly start getting picked off. The character models are very anime looking but the environments look art deco.

Cosmo Warrior Zero - fun third person shooter. Not translated, but the anime adapting the game got a english sub and dub if interested in the plot.

Dragon Valor - I never see this game mentioned, but its a PS1 take on Namco's Dragon Buster arcade game where you play as different generations of dragon slayers (er.. busters... or valors they call it). There are a few different routes that make this really replayable with different characters and storylines based off your decisions in game.

This game is not very good, but it is very interesting if you like ps1 survival horror.
Koudelka is such a shame, I keep hearing it's so great and I'm sure the story is good cause Shadow Hearts' is, but the battles are unbearable. You can't combine an incredibly slow system like that with random encounters, it destroys the game. And then you can't make out what's an item you can grab or not because of the pre-rendered environments, so you're goofing around trying to search rooms and another damn battle starts...

I actually liked ...iru! It has a nice atmosphere and I like early CG a lot. Actually I dropped it the first time and never knew where to go, but when I beat it a couple years later it clicked more.

Lots of other games in here I've played and didn't like too much, but I'll refrain from talking shit.

While the character designs are a lot worse then in the first game, Goiken Muyou 2 is a solid 3D fighter on the PS1. Mechanically it's similar to Virtua Fighter 3 but with more restrictions (you can't win a battle unless you knock your opponent down, even if they're out of health, for example).

I love Ray Tracers it's a fast-paced 3D version of Chase HQ
