Is there any charactar redesign that kinda suprised you?
Mine was:
Diao Chan from Dynasty Warriors series

Leona from KOF

And more recently Yoshimoto Imagawa from Samurai Warriors

I think you're fine but if you really are in the wrong place a mod will move the thread.

As for the thread itself, I'll go with Faust from Guilty Gear

It was such a cool surprise seeing him return to the franchise.

Also another character's redesigns that surprised me was the one of the Maximals in Beast Machines

The show is great and I don't dislike those design's in fact I found the idea interesting considering of how dark the series is, and is kinda sad that the franchise never tried again something that radical.

i remember really not vibing with aba's guilty gear strive redesign at first, though it's definitely grown on me over time. (mostly because i am legally obligated to really like aba, she's one of my favorite characters ever...)

I'm assuming this can be either about negative or positive surprises?

Here's a negative one imo, which also feels like the obligatory one:

I hated it since the day I watched that teaser, and my 11 year old self would later rant on the internet for the first time in a Banjo-Kazooie Orkut forum about it.

And a positive one:

To be fair, I didn't knew Pit before Brawl, but he opened my mind that it's okay for male characters to be on the cute side of things

Chris Redfield was fairly consistent in REmake, RE5, and RE6. Then RE7 happened. I remember people were thinking he was an imposter because he looked so different and Capcom had to confirm it wasn't. Glad they changed him back in 8.

A combination of Capcom wanting something really different and Tameem Antoniades seeming being made to work on a franchise he hated.
