Super Mario Bros. 40th Anniversary

With 2025 coming in a few days, what would Nintendo be preparing for Super Mario Bros'. 40th anniversary? Nintendo did very little for the 35th anniversary, and with Super Nintendo World opening in Orlando Florida on May 22nd and the upcoming Nintendo console coming soon, what are your ideas Nintendo should do for Super Mario Bros. 40th anniversary?

On a much more serious note, I’d love a Galaxy 2 re-release. What a weird thing to just have 1 without 2.
I think some handheld games still don’t have a re-release.

If they want like a huge scale celebration (something which I severely doubt Nintendo will ever bother with, given their laziness), I think some kind of remake of the 3D Mario trilogy would be great.

If it was up to me, I'd re-release SMB/Duck Hunt on SD Cards shaped as the original cartridge and bundled with an emulator, so they could run on anything or independently.

What I'd do is have the original Super Mario Bros playable on their website in its original form. It's a 40yo game, it'd be a nice little thing to do, maybe as an easter egg.

3. Super Mario 3D All Stars reprint OR Super Mario Bros. 35 relaunch, but not both.

This might be a stretch, but Nintendo should make an effort to live up to the high quality they are reputed for, so...

• Super Mario All-Stars HD: Full HD graphics based on the original artwork, with widescreen and extras from the GBC and GBA re-releases. Bonus points if they include Super Mario Bros Special, Super Luigi Bros, and/or Super Mario World.
• Super Mario Land All-Stars HD: Similar QoL, but with the 3 GB games. Heck, if they can at least do them in 16-bit-esque pixel remasters, even that would be something.
• Super Mario 64 HD: Combine the best elements of the N64 & DS versions with graphics that show off what the Switch 2 can do.
• Donkey Kong HD: Remake of the GB game. Include arcade mode as well for the sticklers.

Nintendo could celebrate 40th Anniversary of Mario for the entire year around the globe.

I come from the future (2025) and it was already announced the future Mario game for the Switch 2 called: Super Mario Splinters and also that the new Mario Kart game that came out for the switch called: Mario Kart World.

That feels weird, I remember the Gameboy Micro with the 20th anniversary of Mario like it was yesterday and now here we are, twice as old.

Every anniversary makes me more aware of how time is passing.

I’m happy Mario is in a healthier state right now than it was when I first got into it! Nintendo can suck the big one, but their flagship series seems more confident to try right now than it has in a while. The team behind it seems to be young and full of fresh ideas! It’s actually interesting to follow Mario right now, and that makes me happy, because not every series can be so lucky to be that way 40 years on!

Afaik they’re more or less the same, but the Switch version has that Bowser’s Fury thing included which is like a small but unique standalone Mario game in the same engine.
