I found a hack of Super Mario Bros. 2 - The Lost Levels, that converts the FDS rom to a NES rom (using the MMC3 mapper chip). I believe it's supposed to be the most 1:1 of all the NES ports of the game (there are some other bootlegs out there that are not as good). For the sake of video game preservation, I hope this rom can be preserved on this site because the website that originally hosted this rom seems to be gone and I believe other modders used this as a base rom for their mods, so their romhacks would stop working if this game was lost. The author of the hack is "Loopy." The link is here - just click on "SMB2J" -

FDS emulation is easier than before but I always appreciate people porting the game in a proper nes cartridge format.

This version also works without needing the FDS bios files and lets you skip the FDS startup screen. Also, it's nice if you want to keep it with your other NES games in your collection without creating a new folder for FDS games.

Requiring a Bios file for emulation is my bane (yes, I downloaded a full set of them but it's still annoying to have to just to be able to play games).

I'm glad Dolphin doesn't require one but I'm wondering how it didn't get troubles from N yet.

For modern console emulators like the PS3 I kind of get it since a lot are relying on those files to make the game boot correctly.

Metroid FDS still has the better OST and has save files so it's objectively better but I prefer Zelda 1 on the NES cartridge instead of the FDS.

Edit: I cannot make the thing work because split.exe isn't compatible with 64-bits Windows OS...
