I bought a Nintendo DSi 5 months ago, and it has become my main platform to play games on ever since (I don't feel like turning on my laptop and open Steam anymore). Revisiting beloved games like Hotel Dusk, TWEWY and Rhythm Heaven has been a delightful experience. I love my DSi with all of my heart.
Eventually I ended up trying the SM64 remake for the first time. To be fair, I always sucked at playing the original N64 version so, naturally, at first I expected even worse performance on my end due to the new controls but to my surprise, my experience with it hasn't been that bad. In fact, I'm loving this game more than I thought I would.
Of course, the controls are bad in comparison, but the game is still more than playable. It takes a while to get used to it, but once you do it feels great to explore the castle.
I feel like many people don't even bother with the DS version and it's a shame because it really is a very competent and decent remake and an impressive achievement for the Nintendo DS.
Hardcore fans and speedrunners will forever prefer the N64 version and I get it, but for casual players this version is highly recommended. The amount of new content is more than enough to justify a playthrough in my opinion.
Anyone else think the same?
