Watanabe sticking to a familiar style but working with a number of Western staff is making this one feel like it lacks a hook. Mappa's production is solid but I'm not enjoying Lazarus yet. Then there's Anne Shirley which is full of all the whimsy a work like that should have. Great background work and texture, charming character interactions too. Yaiba Samurai Legend is a delight with animation that feels positively electric and masterfully directed. Lastly the best of the season so far has been Apocalypse Hotel featuring character designs by Izumi Takemoto who I immediately recognized from working on some classic VN/Adventure games like Yumimi Mix and The Dino Island. Both episodes have been packed with humor and warmth. Apocalypse Hotel is full of heart and I am confident will be the stand out of the season. So what are you watching? [/QUOTE]
