Kaze and the Wild Masks plays more like the SNES Donkey Kong Country games than anything by Retro Studios does

This is why I love indie games

Not to say that the game doesn't deserve praise because it looks good but pretending that indie games are making more true successors than the actual company is a bit insulting towards the work of Retro Studio which not just made sequels but also added their own flair instead of just mimicking Rareware's style.

That's why franchises evolve instead of stagnating.

I have no problem insulting Retro Studios. They're not entitled to my praise and frankly their DKC games sucked.

Yooka-Laylee, Balan Wonderworld, and Mighty No. 9 were attempts by the original creators to make spiritual successors to their own games.
