Do you play older games with open source engines? I tried OPENMW and it works great on steamdeck.

If the source port is stable and basically complete then it's my preferred method. They're less of a pain to get running and usually have improvements and bug fixes. I've used a few of them.
Arx Libertatis, Crispy Doom, DevilutionX, OpenRCT, Raze, TRX, vkQuake, Ship of Harkinian.

people have ported the sm64 to a surprising amount of consoles so that's neat.

Most recently, I used fHeroes2 to run Heroes of Might & Magic 2 on Steam Deck. Allegedly it changes CPU behavior, but it's nothing I notice at the level I'm playing that game at. When I get the occasional urge to fire up Doom, I mostly just use the Nightdive remaster, but every once in a while I'll use a source port if there's a mod I want to try out.

I played Jak & Daxter for the first time thanks to OpenGOAL and I'm so glad it exists, I loved the game and I'm so glad we also have a lot of mods as well.

And Unleashed Recompiled was AMAZING, I already played Sonic Unleashed before on PS3, but playing that game again with GOOD FRAMERATE was a dream come true.

Also, does Sonic 3: Angel Island Revisited counts as well? If it does, that port of Sonic 3 is one of the absolute best ones (alongside Sonic 3 Complete).

I'd say it does. I believe Sonic 1 and 2 also have similar quality decompilations/ports.

Have you tried notblood? I can't exactly remember why but I preferred playing with that one.
