Every game from publisher ThiGamesDE has been removed from the PlayStation Store, with a total of 1,194 PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 games disappearing. ThiGamesDE is primarily known for publishing shovelware games like the Quiz Thiz series and The Jumping Burger, which are often used by PlayStation players to earn easy Platinum Trophies for their account. The reason for their sudden disappearance from the PlayStation Store is unclear, but it may be related to Sony's recent partnership with Microsoft and Nintendo to pursue greater player safety on the companies' platforms.

Good

Something I have seen is that many "shovelware" games are even worse than just some "easy" platinum.

Today everything can ask you for your credentials and then try to do something worse than just be a terrible $2 game.

Scared the shit outta me for a moment, thought it was something that mattered.

However, I am not so ignorant as to realize how removing digital content that no one can ever play again is not a good thing. It doesn't matter how good or bad they were, they're gone now. No one gets to laugh at how shitty they were or farm for a an easy platinum trophy for funsies.

I've been putting stuff on my PS5 and Switch 2 wishlists a lot more than I used to because going through the weekly sales is impossible since there's so much garbage to wade through. I see a lot less of this on Xbox, however I guess that's probably because it's more difficult to make money on that platform nowadays so they don't bother as much.

How long until we see someone list a PS4 with "all 1000+ LOST MEDIA games R@RE OOP!!!!" as the description

On one hand, I shed no tears for shovelware
On the other, that many games being removed at once will always worry me in an industry where delistings are already running rampant.
I'm just glad it was nothing that mattered

I wonder if steam will join this kind of action too.

At least this time the removal was for greater good
