Fonts. The stylistic appearance of words featured on a product. They are ubiquitous and found in many variations. You got handwritten fonts like "Boba Date", bitmap fonts like "Press Start 2P", or Sans Serif fonts like "Gandhi Sans" and "Rosario", or fonts like "Wingdings" that are just a bunch of weird symbols. Some are more sophisticated than others while some are just... goofy, for lack of a better term. At the end of the day, they all a bit of personality to the product in question.
Allow me to nerd out a bit and share some of my favorite fonts to use for watching anime via overriding pre-existing fonts in MPV.
1). Gandhi Sans (Bold)
This font (particularly, the bold version) is commonly used by fansubbers (like GoodJobMedia)—and for good reason; it just looks great on virtually any series. It's even better than the plainer fonts that appear on legal streaming services like "Trebuchet MS", which Crunchyroll often uses for their subtitles, or "Swiss 721" which HIDIVE uses.
2.) Rosario (Bold)
I tend to use this for anime that takes place in either a fantasy setting, a romantic drama like WataTabe, or anything that features mythical creatures like vampires (Tonari no Kyuuketsuki-san). It's a more sophisticated font that pleases the eye that universally fits all anime.
3.) Impress BT
Ah yes, the font that I immediately associate with "Sonic X" and "Sailor Moon". I personally like to use it for slice-of-life anime (most recent example being "Bocchi the Rock!"), but I have found that it also suits plenty of other anime with a 4:3 aspect ratio.
4.) LinotypeFinnegan
I remember seeing this font used in Apothecary Diaries and it perfectly suited the show's historical Chinese setting. I like it for the same reasons as Gandhi Sans Bold and Rosario—very classy and rarely does it look out of place.
5.) Panefresco 999wt
An interesting name for such an aesthetically pleasing font. Much like Gandhi Sans Bold, I believe that it looks good on most slice-of-life anime.
6.) Chiller
One of the more stylistic fonts in existence. Great for something gritty and dark.
