Switch So, I have the Switch 2 now. (Discussion/Rant)

My dad for an early (really early if you ask me) Christmas gift got me the Switch 2 I own currently. I'm happy with it as he got it for me out of love and the fact that I've been dealing with a lot because of him, y'know, parental care n crap. That ain't easy. Not that I would really complain about any of it as I don't mind doin' so. Anyway, it was the Legends Z-A bundle and so I'm playin' the fOrBIdDeNNN game because... why the hell wouldn't I at this point, right? And... I actually kinda like it. I'm havin' fun, I think there's interesting ideas. The Switch 2 itself is... legitimately just a Switch Pro, though hahah. My dad got me the upgrade pack for Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter since it was just a dollar as well. That game significantly looks better if you ask me though don't ask for technical details. I don't see that far as my eyes are apparently bad. Overall really like the Switch 2. Really like Legends Z-A.

I didn't make this post to complain about the Switch 2 or the new Pokemon game. I wanted to get it off my chest that like... I think some people are taking the negativity around Nintendo now to a whole new level. Don't get me wrong... I have my issues with Nintendo now a days too. 80 dollar games? Pre-release DLC announcements? Price gouged crap that would probably be sold for half the price if priced fairly. The whole Palworld situation. The list could go on. It has legitimately depressed me the past few days how aggressive and negative people have been. I was even insulted and berated for being gifted the Switch 2 and new Pokemon game.

I've seen a little boy be bullied because he was happy getting a Switch 2 with Mario Kart World all with his soda n pringles like dude. He's a kid, he just probably got that from his parents for Summer vacay because AW MOM AND DAAAAAD, ALL MY FRIENDS AT SCHOOL HAVE A SWITCH 2 NOW. PLEEEEAAAASEEEE!!! And the like.

I still will never buy a game keycard. I will probably be very picky with anything Switch 2 wise I get (which feeds into the game keycard crud). I'll be buying Switch 1 versions if Switch 2 version is game keycard or whatnot. I know people are frustrated, as they should be, but I don't think it's going in the right direction. If someone spends their money how they want... let them. That's their right. If you don't wanna spend your money then don't.

Sorry if it seems I'm being a "blind Nintendo fanboy" or something like that, I'm really not. I just think from what I've seen people are goin' a bit too insane over all this stuff and I think it needs to be taken in a healthier direction. People saying someone like me is a bootlicker and "hows that $100 boot taste, bootlicker?" (in reference to Z-A) is really toxic.

I feel like I'll regret this but what do y'all think? I might be bein' a bit sensitive. I just wanted to get this off my chest and whatnot because I am enjoying Z-A and my Switch 2. I do agree with some complaints about Z-A but overall it's tryin' somethin' new and I like it for that.

Whichever camp you're in, or if you are neutral that's cool. Just y'all keep things respectful that's all I ask.

Edit: Wanted to state too that I'm glad I have a Switch 2 for the new Fire Emblem game as I'm a huge fan of that series and the new Hyrule Warriors as well. Can't wait for 'em! Oh, and that I love how No Man's Sky for Switch 2 is just a free upgrade pack. I got my physical copy for Switch 1 for like $25 so that's a freakin' steal and IMO how all this SHOULD be. In regards to the graphics n upgrade pack things.

I think if you enjoy it, enjoy it. You're also voting with your dollar if you don't buy things, even if the system was a gift, and what other people think doesn't matter. If it somehow makes them feel better being shitty people about it, that's on them in the long run.

That said, the level of malice people have for a company does seem a bit much to me. Even here, people get nasty about that stuff and it's like, they're a company. They exist to turn a profit and find new ways if the old ways fizzle out. "But they're so greedy, oh my god the greed, I hope they all die" or whatever, when it's like... why was the old greed more acceptable to them, you know? None of this is new, so this wave of fervor seems really unwarranted. I said it in at least one of the other threads and it applies here too: people can just not buy a thing, that's the only way to truly have a voice in any of this.

It's kinda not new, yeah. I think Nintendo has gone overboard this time but like I don't think individuals deserve the abuse you give a company just because they enjoy said company. You can talk to them, try to change their mind but in a civil manner.

That's totes fair. And not gonna lie... the day I got the Switch 2 from my dad (yesterday LOL) I was lookin' at gamestop for Switch 2 games... either theyre not out yet, no release date yet or game keycard. It's really really sadge. lmao

Enjoy your new console. I have been very vocal about my distaste for Nintendo, and I stand by that.
But I absolutely will not try and make you or anyone else feel bad for enjoying their console or games, let alone something you received as a gift.

That would be asinine of me or anyone else for that matter. You don't have to like what Nintendo is doing, but hey, that doesn't mean you can't enjoy some of their products. I know that sounds hypocritical, but regardless of what any of us say or think, Nintendo will be around for a long, long time.

Me either. I bought one at launch because, well, if you want Zelda and Metroid, that's the only way you'll be playing it until an emulator comes out. Still though, I'm not buying game keycards, since as a collector I want the actual physical game on the cart. Yeah, PS5 games don't even have the entire game on the disc anymore, but at least you don't need to connect to the net to play them.

The hate for Nintendo is somewhat deserved, but I don't hate people for buying a Switch 2. Like I said, if you like Nintendo first party games like Mario platformers, Zelda, Metroid, Mario Party, etc, then you have no other choice currently. Let people enjoy things.

But honestly though, Nintendo needs to chill a bit.
