So, anyone plays with retroachievements activated?

I used to, but I play on a Retroid Pocket 2S and I'm not always home. So if I have no online access I can't unlock achievements. I rather enjoy the game itself, then worry about a check list I can't access because some nerds are worried about the purity of the score boards.
It’s me, I’m nerds (I won’t play some games away from WiFi bc I’m achievement hunting them)

For the most part, yeah. But I really don't do those Hardcore Achievements.

I do but I don't go out of my way for anything too much.

I think I made an account but haven't touched any yet. Kinda hard when real hardware is (almost) better

I'm in the same boat as some other people here, I've had quite a few different emulator handhelds in the past few years, some of them supported RA, some of them didn't, so my points and plays are kinda sporadic. At the moment I've got a Trimui Brick with NextUI, which doesn't support RA yet, I was trying to 100% Pokemon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire.

Always retroachievements are activated here. But I'm not an achievements hunter, I only play for fun and when I earn some achievements thats fine ::biggrin

I do on some emulators. I did have issues where the RetroAchievement login would regularly fail on some, and my most used emulator, Ares, doesn't yet support them. If they added support I would definitely have it enabled more, even if I might not pay that much active attention to it.

I used to, but it kept logging me out on Steam Deck so I couldn't be bothered to keep logging in all the time unfortunately. Maybe I'll try picking it up again when my OLED comes in.

I try to enable them whenever they're an option.

I just enjoy the fuck out of achievements on any platform ::peacemario

you know, this thread really made me go and install a bunch of emulators to log into with the account. First game I actually stopped to earn some achievements? Streets of Rage 2. It works pretty well. I picked a random new emulator, worked alright. Could use more features but it was solid.

Nothing against it but for me its unnecessary .

I know already that i could miss stuff in some playthroughs but it gives me a reason to replay it in excitement when i heard and saw what i missed.

Archievements spoils the content for me and it becomes more a chore to get them .

I prefer when the game itsself is worth to play and being good alone.

But thats my perspective on it .

I love achievements, and I love that the community bands together to create them, giving me even more incentive to go back and play older titles that'd passed me by.

I only wish I'd been playing on hardcode mode earlier.

I don't because I don't want to become obsessed with them. Playing mostly emulators lately makes take everything much easier without worrying about platinums and whatnot (although I only used to plat games which I liked enough to justify going out of my way to get them).

I'm a sucker for achievements.
Sometimes, I use it as a excuse to keep playing a game for longer than I should, or replay a game because achievements were included recently for it.

I don't aim for the hardcore ones though.
I don't have that much dedication for it.

I don't really bother. I don't like making a bunch of accounts for different things (even if I have to) I just play the game how I want. Only time I care about achievements are for games on Steam and only the ones I really enjoy.

Yeah, full on softcore though.
not just an excuse to play my nostalgia games for the Nth times but also to try different retro games and those that mention on High Score Girls as well.
The Valis series on PC Engine is really nice, I love that genre.

I do like them though same as many say, do not go out of my way to get them. They also can momentarily lag games on some devices like Vita or 3DS quite nastily. Switch it is OK with though, which is my main/2nd in command for emulating stuff. I also mainly used retroarchievements as a game discovery platform, collecting roms they have enabled, and I got to try especially some arcade beat em ups I would not known about. Some duds too that seem to have more of nostalgia than quality drive for people but that is fine, I did not hate bubsy 3D as a kid either.
Won't likely be collecting any PSP or NDS achievements much since I play those on real hardware. I kinda enjoy that for Pac-Man Championship Edition NES/Famicom they just have the same achievements developers have for the game.

Nah, sucks the fun out.
