Yo Spike if you wanna add a really good worthwhile dungeon crawler rpg for PC-98 check out Mime - Floating Dream It's got a great fan translation and I'd say it's probably a better more fun game than this one. There's a big archive of all the translated pre-patched PC-98/88 games on archive.org. It's easy to find if you search nec 98 translations on google. It's always the first result for me. They have over a 100 games already and always keep it up to date

20 years ago, i'd have been all over this.

Then again 20 years ago i was dirt poor, and was playing ADOM, Diablo 2 and Morrowind as my main 3 games.

This game would be a lot better if the dungeons weren't so extremely maze like. Like they're way too much like being mapped like a maze puzzle you'd do on paper to a degree worse than other dungeon crawler rpgs of a similar genre. As for how to get games like this working follow this guide as I've found it to be the best and most helpful and uses the best PC-98/88 emulator https://gang-fight.com/projects/98faq/ It wouldn't matter for games like these but that emu is so advanced you can even install the japanese PC-98 versions of Windows 95 to 2000 and run it in a similar way to DOSbox but like a weeb DOSbox

RENAME the np2kai folder "np2" - trust me.

FOLDER needs to be call "np2" ----- NOT Np2kai in STEAM version of retroarch

the only other thing I did was copied np2kai and put in the retroarch "SYSTEM" folder...but I dont think that was why I got the text and features working... I have about 30 translated roms now all are working all with text

i can start the game but cant see any fonts

RENAME the np2kai folder "np2" - trust me.

the only other thing I did was copied np2kai and put in the retroarch "SYSTEM" folder...but I dont think that was why I got the text and features working... Thank you translators and thank you Spike Claus for this surprising Christmas present! Been interested to play this from a while back, reading reviews and seeing AnnK play it on their Twitch channel. The artwork is fantastic!

Wish we could get a new Slayers manga or anime, but I'll happily do with these '90s Slayers games getting well-deserved English translations too :)

When there ist the Font Bmp data in the folder delete the one where you see a picture when you click on it.
It can cause problems (I think it was called font bmp) if this still does not work then I am at a loss.

I renamed it like you said and now it shows text but it's all garbled up..i checked up the bios folder and it's like the one you show in the image so i dont know.

You know that reminds me. I don't know if it makes a difference but I did change a setting in neko project II kai called Keyboard (restart) from ja to us.

but man if you want to own this game physically nowadays be prepared to sell a kidney.

You got the folders correct but the wrong versions of the files I think. Try this page and go for the link that is 681.19 KB. I tried this one and all my text works great now. Keep using the same folder but use these files instead.
