Post your favorite sky high places/settings in games! Cloud oceans, airships, floating islands, heavens, just anything up there, put some music if it's good as well. (Flying simulators are also welcome)

The sky setting is a favorite of mine alongside the desert in any game, that empty and unreachable blue place up there can be used in so many ways, be fantastical, religious or artificial, alongside the unique gameplay designs that an almost infinite void underneath the clouds can provide.

It makes me extremely sad that there will never be another game like this. There were plans for a sequel but it was cancelled.

I don't care what people thinks of the dungeon, the Sky Palace on TP is pretty good

Sky Battalion in Freedom Planet, i am sucker for those levels where you skip different vehicles to reach the goal, obssesion started by the Troop levels in SMB 3, speaking of plane skipping

The first part of the Bomb disarming level in Zero 2, the frenetic music and the storm background make you feel like a badass hopping around enemy troops, sadly the second half's difficulty kills the rythm for me

Tengu Man's stage in 8, relaxing music, not too hard to be frustrating neither too easy to be boring, fun puzzles and a fun SHUMP mini section

All such good mentions ::fire
Floating ruins from ZX Advent with that stormy ambience and music were something else as well (those enemies that don't let you jump were annoying though)

Sola-to-Robo is a necessary mention, the amount of worldbuilding they made was amazing and the ways that it connects to Tail Concerto were very charming, it got everything in there: very detailed image of daily life in that world, inmense misterious lore under the sea of clouds, character development everywhere and so much more alongside having that impressive level of visuals for the DS and all those extras like explanations on the culture, backstory, biology and technology of the place, just so much care and passion everywhere, this is the game that represents life in the sky for me alongside Skies of Arcadia.

I want to try the Fuga games now, more worldbuilding is always appreciated.

Sky Fort from Berserk Boy is like fusing Flying Battery with Mega Man ZX, with another Tee Lopes banger included.

I love threads like this

This is the moment when The Messenger transitions from 8-bit graphics to 16-bit graphics as you travel into the future

Miitopia got a cloud city ripoff, with more cloud than city, I like the color palette, very space era design.

Sly 2's Anatomy of Disaster chapter (the blimp) was crazy, it feels oppressive in a way with that whole thing flying through the darkness of night with the other ships surrounding it, it's just amazing, one of the best final levels ever imo for the vibes alone.

Bringing racing into the mix, this whole thing
Just perfect mix of spectacle and difficulty

Noone has mentioned the red baron levels from Crash 3 yet?
Sonic 2's Sky Chase Zone is decent too, a real change in challenge right at the end. For a land animal, sonic spends a lot of time nowhere near it in his games.

Where do you sit on sea and space sims? I'm thinking Subnautica and Omega Boost, personally.

There's multiple ones in Astro Bot Rescue Mission

Things get epic in this video at 7:25

First three levels in this video

4:57 in this video. A lot of players die in the grappling hook section. Check out the background graphics inside the blimp

Best song in the whole game

Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub Zero isn't a great game, but I like the aesthetics of the Wind Temple. It gets the feeling of trespassing in the god of wind's home across very nicely.

The entirety of Vernal Edge can enter.

Obvious one, Egg Fleet.

The scale is immense and it's all very badass.

Those stray a lot, but the line between sky and space it not very clear sometimes.
