As someone who grew up playing a lot of WoW I sometimes want to play a MMO but I don't always want to play online games. Anyone got any games that are offline that feel kinda similar? The Xenoblade series is about the only thing I know that gives me the same feeling.

Dungeons of Sundaria does a decent job of emulating the WoW raid dungeon experience for solo players. It also has a co-op mode, but it's entirely optional.

Kingdoms of Amalur: (Re-)Reckoning might fit the bill as well.

I've also heard people refer to Dragon Age: Inquisition as a singleplayer MMORPG - personally I never clicked with that game, but it might be worth a look as well.

Definitely S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Especially Shadow of Chernobyl and the Anomaly Modpack. Every NPC fights, explores and loots even when they are in a part of the map that didn't load in yet.

not sure what specifically you're asking. if you're wondering about singleplayer tab target rpgs, i can't say that i know of any particularly but final fantasy 12 does actually get quite close. if you're hoping for the atmosphere of a multiplayer game, the dot hack series tries to do it but it doesn't really get close. still very cool charming games, especially the original ones.

i think a singleplayer tab target game could be pretty cool, but i guess it hasn't been done because tab target came about as a limitation of early mmorpgs rather than a feature.

I have played my share of MMOs' over the eons. Pretty much any game with an open world, functional story, and lots of side/busy work would fill the bill i think. Fallout 4 and newer, Elder Scrolls Oblivion and newer, the Fable games, Hogwarts Legacy, the Witcher games.

There are LOTS of games that could be a MMO with not much alteration. Do an internet search for:
story rich, open world games
I am sure there would be no end of options.

Final Fantasy 12 is pretty much the kind of game I'm looking for. I love that one and it's a great time. I should check out the .hack games more. I've only messed with the ps4 collection of the newer ones.

Thanks for some of the recommendations completely slipped my mind some of these and I'm learning some cool new ones to look for.

Kingdoms of Amalur for sure. It has the feel of an MMO world, but it's a single player game. I have played the original on the Xbox 360 as well as the PS4 remake and both are great.

The .HACK games occur literally in a MMORPG in-canon

Also Xenoblade Chronicles, i feel all the sidequests and even the UI feels MMOish

Maybe Dragon Quest IX with it's near infinite grottoes to explore, 184 side quests, items to craft, classes that you can level forever and legacy bosses that get stronger every time you beat them.

Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning is essentially an MMO that got turned into a single player game It wasn't really my cup of tea but my brother that has played wow for 20 years really liked it.

PhantasyStar online is an mmo that can be played in single player its more like diablo than wow but its worth trying

Due to how progression works, I've always considered the Monster Hunter series an MMO for people who hate MMOs.

Also, also, also, also recommending Phantasy Star Online and Portable 2 Infinity.

Atlyss is basically modernized PSO. Genuinely great game if you can look past the thicc furrys. I've had a lot of fun with it so far and it's not even anywhere near finished.

This game isn't out yet, but the demo was pretty neat.

Erenshor looks really cool, had never heard of that one, thanks for bringing it up!

So Atlyss is actually fun as a singleplayer game then? A PSO throwback sounds fun, but I've only ever heard it brought up for its, uh... character design qualities.
I mean, more power to them - first Pseudoregalia, now this, furries seem to be getting shit done - but that's not exactly what I'm looking for in a game usually. But if it's actually a good time it might be worth a look.

Yeah, Atlyss is totally playable and fun solo. That's how I've mostly played it so far. If the character design bothers you, you can make a reasonably close human by using the imp race and there's options to disable jiggle and put a lower cap on body proportions.

Oh I'm not bothered by it - I just tend to assume that a game with such blatant fetish designs is more concerned with that aspect than with being a good game, you know?

It being playable and fun solo is all I needed to hear, putting it on my list!
