A Lot of shows and movies are being remade (most are not necessary) however i do think if the right team is behind it, it could work.

ALF i think could work amazing as a remake if they did it in a mockumentary type style.

Honestly, I think the shows and movies and that need a remake the most, are the ones that failed horribly. Because they're the ones that need the second chance the most.

You don't remake The Thing, it's a classic that would be difficult if not impossible to improve upon. But you do remake The Thing from Another World because it was crappy and cheesy.
It's one of the reasons why all of the 1980s remakes of 1950s movies are so brilliant, The Fly and The Blob being two good examples. A bit of a shame that Invasion of the Body Snatchers was remade in the 70s though (but that's just my personal preferences talking there). :(

So yeah, when thinking of things that could be remade, I think it's best to think of things that aren't good, but maybe had potential. The Black Cauldron immediately comes to mind, but that is getting a remake.

I didn't know they're remaking that movie.

This. But instead they remake mostly good movies. Or at least ones that didn't suck.

I may be the only person that liked the remake of The Time Machine though. As it's own thing. I think it should have been a sequel or spiritual successor. On its own it's not a bad movie really. The 1990 remake of Night Of The Living Dead is decent. But the movie absolutely did not need a remake.

A lot of classic films do not need remakes. Trying to update for a modern audience sometimes misses the point of the movie or removes the heart. If you can't sit and watch a classic because it's black and white or people talk and dress funny ect... Then you aren't really interested anyway. Those are stupid reasons not to watch.

That said, I'd like to see Lady in a Cage remade. Not because I disliked the original. But because it's a good premise for a thriller and I feel they can do more with it. They could give the lady in said cage more agency or explore how modern technology would change the plot.

It's about a handicapped woman who gets trapped in her home elevator during a power outage. Some criminals break in and terrorize her. It was made to cash in on the success of What Ever Happened to Baby Jane. i.e. exploiting Golden Age actresses in horror situations.

World War Z as a series, with no higher ups interference , book accurate, not the movie with zombies doing track and field becoming a tornado whirlwind chasing people. Its zombies, not the mummy. Hell, each chapter taking place in different countries could almost be a different season.

Yeah, yeah, "the Walking Dead ruined zombies...." NO.

There's probably more that would benefit from having just a remaster more than a straight up remake. We're still stuck watching DS9 and Voyager in dvd quality. There's some AI upscaled projects around but those just do not look right in my humble opinion.
