Honestly, I think the best Harry Potter media is probably the games. Namely the first three... both the console versions and the PC versions (seriously, there's way too many completely different games with the exact same name). But even those are an acquired taste. I personally think Rowling made a very interesting world that you want to know more about. But she did a terrible job at fleshing out that world and making a compelling story within it. I mean, it's clear that a gun is far superior to any of those unforgivable curses. Heck, some of the spells that the first year students learn, have far more destructive potential than any of those unforgivable curses. Yet she does nothing of the sort with them. The fandom has way more imagination than she ever has. But if you're just wanting something about kids in a magical school though, there's plenty of other things to choose from.
