It's the tragedy of John Hammond with his flea circus, trying to make people happy in face of inevitable failure. I can't believe I'm gonna make that comparison, but it's a lot like Citizen Kane in that regard. The main characters, symbolically, are there to give Hammond an intervention. But he is actually unable to listen to their advice, and that's where the crux of his tragedy is. Why hire experts in paleontology to evaluate the park when we're far enough into the construction for a guided tour? That's why the best scene is the one in the dining room between Professor Satler and John Hammond. She's basically telling him to listen to reason, and that people are in danger, his own family, too. We can all have a laugh about the "series" as a whole, but the original movie is one of the best of all time. It's not even close. Everything is solid, from the performances, the cinematography is impeccable, of course you have the score. It's memorable in every single way.
