SEGAGAGA is one of those once in a lifetime experience that we never got in the West and that sucks. The game always felt like it was made to be the last SEGA game if there ever was one. The swan song to the company's history. Hell, it even references how they were on the edge of shutting down in face of Sony's market dominance. I'm glad to hear that the translation is going along well because I really want to play it in a language I can actually read.

"The fan translation of Segagaga is making decent progress, five years after it was announced." ok so I wasn't crazy to think I'd already heard about a translation for this game (also 2020 was 5 years ago jesus christ).
I think it's interesting that this game has been on the "wishlist" of so many people, yet it took this long to be worked on and is taking many years to be completed. I wonder if it's particularly hard to hack or if it's just cursed lol

YES! I have been waiting on this for a while, hope they release it soon so i can burn it and play on my dreamcast!

It's about time! I've been looking forward to this since like 2016 lol
Try 2008 (my case).

More so cursed, but in reality this game had been picked up by fans multiple times and every time no translation comes out of it, not even a release of an unfinished project, I been following news wishing for a translation since 2008 and I even played the game four times already, every time I come closer and closer to the end but always get stuck in one area or another.

Idk about that, SEGAGAGA is the one game I know of that is too big for a proper cdi port, unless you wanna miss out on most of the cutscenes you gotta go with the gdi version.
This is definitely the white whale of fan translations. I hope it will see the light of day too.
This pretty much, game's cursed.

Every so often a new group picks it up and says they're translating it, they make some progress but then ultimately give up and abandon it because of an issue with compression. They can't fit enough text into each line. Most likely this new guy will either abandon it for the same reason or the translation will be very poor as a result of cutting text due to the compression issue.

Yeah that's the most likely scenario. Also something that curses Super Robot Wars games. They require both deep levels of hacking and extensive knowledge of the IPs involved.

Exactly. If this guy was doing a full disassembly and was making progress in that than I would be more optimistic and think that a translation is likely, but he's just trying to hack it in so I expect that the end result won't be very good.

This is one of the few games i've wanted to see translated, looking forward to it.

Genuinely surprised it's taken this long for a fan translation to happen, but it's great to see!
