It pains me that we never got a sequel or even a remake or modern re-release for whats arguably one of the most impressive games SEGA ever made.
Don't even get me started on the fact that apparently the Western localization is really bad and a lot of the translated dialogue is anything but a translation, more like localizers trying to be witty.

Phantasy Star 3 I know it’s not an eye pleaser but it’s my introduction to rpg. And the rest are:
Valkyria Chronicles
Shining Blade
Shining Force
Phantasy Star Portable 1 & 2 Infinity

Well as far as SEGA characters go, he is certainly doing better than Ristar ::biggrin
Roster who? Just kidding!!

Vyse and Aika also have a cameo in Valkyria Chronicles so it's not like Sega forgot Skies of Arcadia, they're just trolling us at this point.
I'd trade not having any more VC for another Skies of Arcadia at this point.
Speaking of neglected Sega franchises, and this isn't a traditional RPG but has anyone played the "new" Sakura Wars?

Please do tell more, I've wanted to play it for a while now. (I just might play it soon instead of Shining Resonance Refrain)
You wont regret it! Great new cast, options are fantastic, love the voice acting and presentation and it’s just really fun to run around!

IDK if you guys are aware of it but the director for SEGAGAGA (Tez Okano) is making art to this day and he is directing a passion project pixel art movie, made entirely out of pixel art.
(@HUGASTUDIO)
He talks about lots of stuff including the development behind SEGAGAGA

Hello, first post here! ?
I can’t pass up the chance to mention one of my favourite SEGA Action-RPGs.

Maybe it doesn’t have enough RPG elements for some folks, but I love it so i let it slide ?

Panzer Dragoon Saga
Shining the Holy Ark
Landstalker
as an Action-RPG.
How well does Panzer Dragoon Saga emulate these days? I've been meaning to play that for a long time.

Try it when you can! Beyond oasis is a really unique Zelda esque game.

i'm going to have to replay this. i don't remember the dialog or plot being terrible in this game.

i found this on reddit when i was trying to find out if this was indeed an actual thing. it seems pretty relevant. link to the page:https://www.reddit.com/r/skiesofarcadia/comments/apwf9w/thoughts_on_localization_changes/?rdt=51981

Personally, I think SoA has one of the best translations out there, bar none. I read an interview with some of the translators and editors, and they talked about how they basically gutted all the original text and re-wrote dialogue from scratch to get the same point across, as opposed to a literal word-for-word translation. This is how ALL translations should work, because Japanese and English are extremely incompatible, not just in structure but in terms of culture.

So many of their words, phrases and terms have no proper analog in English. Sure, there are words that mean the same thing on a technical level, but due to being so isolated from the west, much of the culture behind their language tends to lend things a different flavor or coherency that simply doesn't exist in our hemisphere. That's why so much anime and JRPG dialogue comes out sounding stilted, awkward, or just plain stupid; it's not because of bad translations, it's simply because the dialogue sounds good and makes sense in Japanese culture but not in European/North American. When you're dealing with two languages that were born and evolved over thousands of years in cultures completely isolated from each other, it's not hard to imagine. Compare to other European languages which can not only be easily translated, but often share root words, history and even some exact phrases.

In terms of censorship, I would like to see all of that stuff reverted, though, especially the cigars/cigarettes. Once I started noticing so many characters doing smoking animations without cigarettes in their hand, I couldn't unsee it.

I wouldn't take anything reddit says seriously, that site has notoriously bad takes on pretty much everything.

i also found this wiki site, which has a bit of detail on dialog changes and other stuff.

i usually check reddit for info on stuff in video games like lists or where to find something in a game. i don't personally care about the opinions that they have there. i've seen and heard quite a bit of proof of it being an echo chamber for some groups. i take what i need and go about my business.
