Check out Macho Natchos video, we now have the Neptune made by a moder called COSAM!

Modders do what console companies DONT!

Allot of chip reclaiming, so might need to go for a broken system, and then reclaim those chips, but if we can use programmable chips towards this, i can see it going a long way to an actual fully opensource design beyond the main board alone!

That is so awesome, i've seen only the schematics of it, seeing being put together just amazes me how much the retro community do towards these consoles that never even got launch

I am hoping that FPGA can improve on this some, towards a truly open source solution!

I've seen this. It's pretty neat. Makes me wonder if it would have actually have panned out if Sega had had more foresight.

I remember seeing this a while back. I watch Macho Nacho from time to time, but only when he’s talking about something that piques my interest. I’m hoping they release it soon, I’d love to get my hands on one and play around with it. You know, just to see what it was and what it's actually capable of. Because who doesn't love a good gadget gamble?

My butthole clenches at the thought of all the perfectly good Mega Drive and 32X units that will get destroyed to make this thing.

If the person doing the transplant knows what they are doing, then this should be fine.

Otherwise roll on FPGA fabrication of the chips being used for the purpose of making this a truly open source solution!

I’ve seen this around and I like it a fair bit. I get why SEGA never made it, as it’s fundamentally a poor idea. They would have had to discontinue Genesis to make it work. But, as a piece of tech in the modern collector space, damn is it cool! I just wish somebody would pull in the SEGA Pluto and make that a real thing (beyond the prototypes that Adam Koralik has).

I love how the motherboard is purple.
