SEGA ARCADE GOODNESS!

It's not as wild as it sounds, though... when the Cleveland Indians became the Cleveland Guardians, they overlooked a tiny detail: the Cleveland Guardians trademark was already taken. By a roller derby team. Operating in Cleveland XD

It certainly took a bit of lawyering up to solve that one, but it's not unheard of that a far stronger bidder can just override an existing IP even if it's technically already taken.

I’ll keep an eye for sure. Hoping it’s real cuz this past year I’ve been gradually realizing how much Sega been part of my retro memories.
Yeah, I realized a little while ago that many games I really like from the last 20 or so years were developed or published by SEGA :loldog

It’s kind of odd how long it took for to click with me. In my brain, I have a vivid, specific image of what “retro sky” is and it took me so long to realize I was thinking of OutRun and Daytona and Sega Rally and whatnot. The fighters I played in the arcades were all Sega, the on-rail shooters were Sega games probably too, my most played 2D platformer as a kid was sonic (or metal slug if that counts lol), my first proper love with SRPGs was shining force, my first beat ‘em up was golden axe and my first proper introduction into Zelda-likes was the MD’s action games.

When thinking of old school 3D action games, I can also only think of Spikeout, Shenmue and Rent a Hero. Sega is my life, which feels weird to say given how long it took to click.

Yeah, it's almost like they defaulted into being so prominent in my life hehe I would rent games like Sonic Adventure 2 for my GameCube, or Yakuza for the PS2 and not have any clue who or what SEGA was. As a kid, I always just thought Sonic was a cartoon character first who happened to be in some video games.

Valkyria Chronicles, Shenmue, Jet Set Radio, Hatsune Miku: Project Diva, the K-On! rhythm game. Even Persona, if you count them owning ATLUS.

People often rave about Nintendo 1st party games, but the company has a tendency to play it safe and keeps going back to the same IPs over and over again. Sega has developed and published such an incredible variety of interesting and creative and really bold, boundary pushing games. The only IP they're really milked a lot is Sonic. Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft all have incredible games to take credit for but they've all got nothing on Sega.

which means Sega doesn't have to go through as many hoops to get a good solid lineup of a lot of different games. HINT HINT

I know this is a fever dream and a half due to licensing, but if they somehow manage to include SCUD Race & Star Wars Trilogy Arcade in this joint, I'll be beyond happy.

Even if they removed all the BPR licensing and even the branded cars, I'd buy Scud Race in a heart beat.
