Seeing how expensive new games and consoles are, I'm glad to be a pacient gamer

And this definitely has nothing to do with today's Nintendo Direct and the pricing... Not at all... ::thumbsupwario

But seriously though, I'm glad to be able to buy many games at an affordable price on PC. Yes, they're all digital and most of them have DRM but it's still nice to get my hands on games I'm interested in, plus it feels great when I catch a good deal. And I'm not only talking about old games, even modern games are also very affordable if you wait for the right moment to get them.

But anyways

New Mario Kart for 80 bucks is just insane

Do what you want 'cause a pirate is free, you are a pirate
Yar har fiddle de de

Yo ho ahoy and avast
Being a pirate is really badass
steal video game roms off the internet and laugh at greedy companies!
You are a pirate!

Honestly at this point it feels like the entire Game Industry or at least those who Spearheaded the Game Industry trying to taunt the world for the re-emergence of Warez again.

What's the point?

I'm guessing that $80 USD. Here in Canada, a new game has been $80 for years and more recently some physical games are going for $90, and that's not factoring in the taxes!

Feels silly to purchase a modern game consoles when not only a PC is just plain better than a locked down system, there's still mountains of older games to play, ever growing each year. I can wait till they're cheap, or rather just emulate they're games (˶º⤙º˶)

If salaries had increased with inflation, I could totally understand the price increase, but here we are about to jump into a recession and these fuckers think we are made out of money.

Honestly I've never bought a new game, most of time I buy games at Cex. Then I mod my old console like PS2/PS3 and Psvita. I also need to say that I tend to cycle console, like recently I played:
Ratchet 1 to Gladiator on PS2
Armored Core For Answer on PS3
Remnant 1 and Dead Island 2 on PS5

as I have Wii, I don't need NSO Gamecube as it's very likely to have many issues compared to real hardware and Dolphin considering how was NSO N64

if I want to play Gamecube in HD I have 2 options, buy a good upscaler(as already Nintendont allows you to force games to Widescreen and Progressive Scan) or emulate in Dolphin instead of using NSO Gamecube

I just need a AC Adapter and a new Gamecube Controller to finally back play Gamecube games

It's crazy that it's 80 since they're not even releasing it onto actual cartridges. The 'cart' they're releasing it on is just a download to it, similar to ps5 disc.

Same, just gave up on all the FOMO nonsense

It's time to game on our terms.
Companies using FOMO strategies to make you buy their products is nothing new, it's just funny to see Nintendo being extremely greedy once again after having one successful console. I hope they don't get away with it, but time will tell.

Voting with our wallets is the only way to stop these practices.

I wish the AAA game industry a very nice collapse. Nintendo is taking pages from the Sony playbook, making super expensive console and games and proprietary peripherals, while also having multiple tiers of monthly subscriptions for the provilege of playing online and having (bad) emulators.... and physical game carts for $90 that don't even have the actual game inside of them, just being a download code and used as DRM!

Oh, and don't forget that the Switch 2 does not have the OLED screen that they upgraded the previous one with. Expect an upgraded more expensive version to come out in a year or two.
