Pretty much any rpg recommendation before PS2 will probably need a guide at some point, and it is probably a good idea to have one open to skim as you go along just to save yourself some frustration. Yes, exploration is part of rpg's, but unfortunately many of the old ones can feel cryptic about where to go or what to trigger to the point it can feel unfair. That makes FFX a good recommendation because it is very straightforward (but you do still need to think, it's not like you just mash attack) and an archetypal rpg experience. As much as I ::heart LoL (probably in my top 5 games ever, I love everything about it),THAT is an example of a game you need a guide for. One of the early bosses is completely unbeatable by the average player, imo Even with a guide (which gives you a good strategy), it was a tough fight, at least for me ::sadkirby Also, I do recall it being difficult at times to know what to do.
