I own a physical copy of Shiren the Wanderer for the SNES, complete with box and manual. It's a repro, of course, since been patched with an unofficial English patch to a game that only launched in Japan. The game is the original Japanese release, actually, the only difference is that the patch has been applied.

Do you own anything like that? Not necessarily translations, but full remade games too. Do you wish to have a physical copy of a specific ROM hack? If so, which one?

I'm new to this world of ROMhacks, but I would really like Fire Emblem: Vision Quest for the Gameboy Advance.
And you?

I only ever picked-up Mother 3 on a GBA cart.

Oh, wait! I forgot that I also bought the fan translated Seiken Densetsu 3 on cartridge years ago, too. I had the option of buying Bahamut Dragoon, but not for the $80 the store was demanding lmao.

If we're excluding self-made emulation devices, I've got a Mother 3 cart as well as a couple Fire Emblem hacks on reproduction carts, including the infamous The Last Promise and a couple multi-game GBA and DS carts I got when ebay was still flooded with those things for like 3 bucks a pop.
These days I mostly emulate via PC though.

Nothing as fancy as that Shiren repro cart complete with instruction booklet and packaging though - looks fantastic!

No. I'm old enough to remember when people buying and selling romhacks was frowned upon because it cast the emulation scene in a bad light and brought unwanted attention from IP owners. Back when people actually had common sense towards emulation and didn't actively try to antagonize video game companies.

I've sad this in conversation with people before, but gamer Youtube grifters who just openly make videos on emulating current hardware or flash carts for current systems in the wide open exposing idiots to the scene is the biggest contributor to issues it has today. Nintendo wouldn't be doing the things they do if people only talked about n64 emulation and snes everdrives, but idiots have ruined everything chasing the algorithm. sure, Nintendo is a Japanese company who have notoriously strict IP laws, but if starting in the Wii U/3DS era idiots (besides tiny 10 subscriber channels that just posted softmod tutorials to help) didn't start just explaining piracy in every step, and hadn't moved on to talking about how anyone with a home pc from the last 10 years could emulate the switch better than the switch itself runs, we wouldn't be in today's predicament. everyone likes to go screw Nintendo! they are evil! and yeah screw em, they shut down a lot of good shit, from projects to websites, and along with their peers have a lot of consumer unfriendly practices, but they didn't just randomly decide to do all of that.

I definitely dislike Nintendo and their practices and they're perfectly capable and willing to go after people for the slightest thing even without provocation. Honestly everything recently with switch emulation was just fucking painful to watch because it absolutely was the stupidity of everyone just throwing it in Nintendo's face that caused it all.

To be fair, switch emulator devs took kind a silly route with the way it was emulated. I don't know if this was because of technical reasons or just because they could but having the emulator itself decrypt roms was just asking for trouble. There's no way that wasn't going to end with a lawsuit. I don't know how the encryption on the switch works but other emulators for other systems with encrypted roms seem to only work with already decrypted roms. I don't know why devs took a different approach for the switch but that's what the big problem was.
