So far...these are the only five hacks that have removed the non stop blinking 2P message when playing by yourself.

And unfortunately...there hasn't been more of these hacks at this point.

"Magical Quest 3" removed the blinking on the 2P message when it received two updates back in 2019.

And while I get that they're being like the games in the arcades...it honestly was never a good idea in the first place.

You're trying to focus on everything else that's happening on screen...only to get distracted by the non-stop blinking message at times.

So...as simple as these requests may be...

There needs to be more "FLASHING MESSAGE BEGONE" patches for the following games below.

-----***-----

I realize there's more out there...but I mainly want to focus on these for the time being.

I'm hopeful that someone, who has a lot of experience with rom hacks, will be able to do all this.

I have zero experience with making hacks...which is why I've been trying to reach out to someone online.

For the SNES Ganbare games...make sure these work with the English Translations.

And for everything else...please make sure they work with other Rom Hacks and MSU1 Packs.

As Surf Bluecrab said in the description of his hack...it's very easy to do.

At least...I hope it's easy to do.

So, I'm not a genius when it comes to romhacking beyond the point of some minor tinkering with DS roms; but if those flashing messages are just image files maybe replacing them for a different one might just do the trick?
Again, I never tinkered with any visual in games and only audio stuff.

I feel like a good way to start would be to run the games in an emulator with a debugger and see what values in memory change when you connect a second player and the flashing text disappears.

It's not even flashing, the "INSERT COIN / PRESS START" in most games just blinks withing a second or so. But looking back, I think the home ports could've in fact gotten rid of the blinking, since there was no need to attract people to the arcade machine.

I don't think this ever bothered anyone in any capacity since the arcade days though, but if some people are willing to go through the trouble of doing it, it doesn't hurt anybody. Just don't expect this to be the norm.

I need to bump this thread back up.

I wish there was someone on the site who would be able to make these simple hacks.

Someone...who has a lot of experience with rom hacking.

As Surf Bluecrab said in the description of his "Goof Troop" hack...the Hex Program is one of the tools he used to remove the message.

While I know that Graw said that there is a way to turn off the flashing message using an emulator...

The thing is...

I prefer playing these games, using an Flash Cart, on either an actual console...

Or on an Analogue FPGA Console.

Now...due to there being too many games on the list...

I feel it's best to focus on these games for the time being:

Super Nintendo:
- Ganbare Goemon Kirakira Dochuu: Boku ga Dancer ni Natta Riyuu (Japan)
- Ganbare Goemon 3: Shishi Juurokubee no Karakuri Manjigatame (Japan)
- Ganbare Goemon 2: Kiteretsu Shogun Magginesu (Japan)
- The Great Circus Mystery Starring Mickey & Minne (USA)
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time (USA)
- Pop'n TwinBee (USA) (Switch Online)
- Super Bomberman 3 (Europe)
- Super Bomberman 4 (Japan)
- Super Bomberman 5 (Japan)
- Super Street Fighter II (USA)
- Street Fighter Alpha 2 (USA)
- Pocky & Rocky (USA)
- Killer Instinct (USA)

Sega Genesis:
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Hyperstone Heist (USA)
- Contra Hard Corps (USA) (En)
- Streets of Rage 2 (USA)
- Bare Knuckle III (Japan)
- Gunstar Heroes (USA)
