It's a pretty awesome port to be made by the community and I think this Homebrew Port is still in development and is obviously based on the PS1 version.

Nice tech demo and programming work.

The video made me realize that as much as I’ve played Ridge Racer 1, which I love, I’ve barely ever played Reverse version of the course. I didn’t realize the title said “backward lap”… wait, is there a Reverse track option in the game?

Also it makes clear that even though the original had longer draw distance and less pop-in than this GBA project, the original devs still tailored the track for a lot of occlusion at various parts of the track. Also I believe even in 2012 Forza Horizon 1 chose “Colorado” of all places partly because “rocks and mountains and stuff” allows for plenty of occlusion and culling.
