I need more content to binge while doing shit so anyone got recommendations for people who talk about videogames (preferably classics but I'm willing to hear modern stuff too).

I'm a big fan of Grimbeard, Majuular, and Lazy Game Reviews and have seen their full libraries so far. If you haven't there's my recommendation right there.

Dungeon Chill for sure. Also, these are not strictly speaking reviewer channels, but I can definitely recommend Warlockracy and tehsnakerer.
Love DC and Snake for sure, haven't heard of Warlockracy though so I'll check that out.

Well... Grimbeard was gonna be my first suggestion because I'd only found out about them recently::sailor-embarrassed
A few others I throw on now and again:

Anyone with RPG in their names. Usually means they review all RPGs including Sega's and they do it fairly and with a passion.

I haven't heard of Hikikomori before, thanks!

Checked my list of subscriptions real quick and remembered two more:

Marsh (kinda like tehsnakerer, but with obscure - usually SMT-related - Japanese RPGs)

And, uh... Pandamonium Reviews Every U.S. Sega Saturn Game. I'm gonna go ahead and assume you can guess what that channel's about.

Used to watch a lot of retro gaming content creators but not so much these days. Was a big fan of most of the creators that where apart of Retroware TV. If you don't mind digging in the archives the stuff from back then is still good. Site is gone but most of it got reuploaded on their personal channels.
Wayback machine link from the site in 2020:

Ooooooh I forgot Retroware existed they had some good stuff back in 08' when I was watching them. Back when most of my youtube game consumption was them, G4 TV reviews, and Screwattack!

Describing the content as "post-Atari-crash" sounds hella pretentious but I'll give it a listen. I like Noah Caldwell-Gervais even after his God of War retrospective so I might like this.

After watching Angry Video Games Nerd and other video game reviewers a lot I noticed they love to turn their negativity about games into Korean-dramas leans into Indian-drama which means the games they dislike and show as "cons" are no big deal. It means this is a weird victim mentality BS, making games look worse when they are not or they are not that bad. And some other only care about cracking joke by following what new generation kids would like to see in the video which so many reviewers I know turned into such a shitty way. As a result instead of watching reviews I directly watch "non-commentary" walkthrough videos to see if I would wanna play a game so if I would I directly play the game to experience it by 1st hand to form a decent opinion. Honestly fuck reviewers lol. Sometimes they montage their videos so hard they make a game seem good when it's not or way good than it's. This especially happens when the game recently released so it means it's paid review or it's just because majority liked it so they play along to satisfy their customer or when it's not a paid review and there is meme for the game is supposed to be bad they just find a reason to throw shit onto games. I don't wanna be part of this delusion!!! lol

Chrontendo does what Parish does, but it's easier to watch. Something about Parish's videos make 15 minutes feel like eleven hours, I don't know what it is, exactly.

This is exactly why I don't watch content like this anymore, a lot of the games I was told are "bad" I actually quite enjoy once I played them myself. Early on when I was new to the hobby it was a good way for me to discover new games and systems, but these days I much rather research things myself and not have it clouded by their biases. Negativity and drama get more views.

I watch retro streams on twitch mostly now. Many of these streamers have genuine enthusiasm for the games they're playing and are not just trying to drum up clicks. I also get to see the game in full myself and form my own opinion on it as well.

These are all huge names so far, I wanna rep some underrated channels:

I really don't care about anyone's reviews. I grew out of that. If I watch gameplay of a game it usually gives me a good idea if it is for me or not. Then I just try it for myself. Having a modded Switch and a um...*ahem*..."sailboat" makes that pretty easy.

I don't need someone telling me what I will or won't like and I don't trust the opinions of most youtubers a.k.a. influencers. I've been gaming long enough now to know what I will or won't like.

The only gaming channels I tend to watch are for entertainment purposes like this:

or for information like the physical paradise channel that helps me stay up to date on games with proper physical releases (not code in a box or keycard nonsense)

I also really enjoy people who put up no commentary videos with skillful gameplay. Watching a game being played the way it's meant to be played without obnoxious commentary drowning out its audio (or obnoxious custom music replacing the game's music) is a thing of beauty. I love no damage runs, 1ccs, S rank playthroughs, etc. Stuff like this:

I absolutely abhor speed runs though because they rush through everything, abuse glitches, skip entire sections of the game, take tons of unnecessary hits in order to blitz through a section, and generally just make the game look terrible. To me finesse > speed

Some of y'all know that there are reasons to watch reviews/commentary beyond 'game good/game bad' right? Like hearing other peoples thoughts on a thing, how they can be different from your own, what the game makes them think of, etc...

I'd way rather hear someone's personal history with a game than having the zillionth "did you know super mario 2 wasn't really a mario game" video

Not many youtubers have anything interesting to say about video games. Most of them aren't even knowledgeable about them and many of them don't have much discernment or critical thinking.

No because most of the time is boils down to. "This really good game is actually SHIT, and I'm gonna spend the next 45 minutes telling you why"

This is really just telling me some of y'all haven't watched a game analysis vid since like, 2008 and/or someone said something mean about your blorbo
