I talked about this before, but boy was I wrong about Biohazard 5 when it came out. Playing it in split screen with my beloved tomboy really opened my eyes: I was sleeping on a truly remarkable action game this whole time

Bio4 has an amazing combat system, doing that in split screen is so much damn fun

HOW MANY GAMES OF THIS SCALE HAVE SPLIT SCREEN??

And Man: did they go all out with the expansions

Two mini scenarios? A mercenary mode with Barry and Rebecca with many little references to Bio1?? The way they did the two weskers?? The unique pose with the triple barrel shotgun??
They got the right message: "The people loved mercenaries. Let them have mercenaries"

And while the melee attacks arent as impactful, the fact theres 4 now and one of them is an insta kill is pretty neat

And I said like twice how much I like the setting. Ive been to morocco and egypt And the streets of Rome, they got the grimy streets with the stinky mistery meat and random bits of beaten up tecnology Perfectly! I can smell it!

And the super majini are sick, and the tribal village enemies and how they gave em their own more savage animations, the return of the gatling guy and his berret (did he also have a giant cigar in 4?)

So many costumes! Especially Sheva!

Stupid me didnt appreciate how capcom really aimed at its core audience with this game, lots of stuff for veteran players. And no stupid shit like an hour of unskippable walking and talking. Or main characters that never stfu or animations that take forever or pointless sequences to make the game longer "so its worth the 80 bucks"

I say try it with your best bud, maybe you'll see what Im talking about

I still don't like steroid chris

I agree the game is so much more fun when you're playing with a friend. But I do think personally I wouldn't have enjoyed the game if I played it by myself. I can't say the same about RE6 though that game is rancid no matter if you've got a friend to share the pain with you.

Playing the campaign on splitscreen with a friend back when we were like 13-14 during the course of a summer break is one of my favorite gaming experiences ever, even though I hardly remember anything of the game lol
Just raw catharsis

The story's nothing special, in fact I still think the whole thing with posessed Jill is stupid and if you take it out nothing changes

However, Wesker in 5 is up there with Alfred Ashford as the best Biohazard villain as far as Im concerned

Without coop and decent mod support game would be nothing, actually because of that from outside the game looks like shit when you try to judge it as an ordinary singleplayer game of a Resident Evil game.

I played it alone when it came out and got so bored I quit when I got to the ruins. This game is Made for co op

Maps are a tad larger and everything is slighlty slower to accomodate

Mercenaries is still great regardless

I was so giddy when I found out about barry and his battle quotes referencing 1 og

I HAVE THIS

WHAT IS THIS?

No One will get that if they didnt play the first game; and rebecca doing the spray attack she uses in that One scene in og where she meets Chris was so cool

If RE4 was the Japanese original, RE5 is the American remake: Not as good, but still pretty solid in its own right.

I will defend Resident Evil 5 any day of the week. One of my personal favourite games of all time, for most of the reasons everyone here has already said. I've easily put hundreds of hours into Mercenaries alone; me and a friend managed to get S-rank on every stage in the original 360 release.

Although it isn't one of my favourites, it's just so much damn fun with or without a partner. And the story it tells has to be one of the best of the entire series, providing a satisfactory send-off for Chris and Wesker's rivalry.

it's good to read that gain points if multiplayed

not my game (single player story), disintalled after a while here

I always found 5 to be better than 4 due to its multiplayer alone.
Maybe it's just me, but me and my friends never take MP games seriously, trying to do as many dumb things as we possibly could here is much more fun than the campaign itself.

I absolutely agree with you. I've played RE5 co-op a bunch of times since it came out and had a blast every single time. Split-screen co-op is the best way to play it, but I've also tried it over LAN (in the same room) and online through Steam, and those were great too.
Then again, I don't think it's just because of the game itself or how it was designed. It's really about the people you're playing with. I could spend hours with friends rolling turds down a hill and still have the best time. Personally, I’m of the mindset that (almost) everything's (usually) better with friends and loved ones.

Well yeah, playing with decent friends are the actual fun aspect, otherwise I wouldn't have fun playing lots of games that their singleplayer experience is boring.

It was a memorable experience with a friend. However, it would have been so much better if we would have played 4 prior. Resi 4 introduces it's mechanics in a way where the player can easily learn how to play the game. Resi 5 feels like it just throws everything at you, expecting that you have played 4 prior.

And that's exactly my point. Is it the game, or is it the people you're playing with?

The game feels underwhelming as a 1P experience, but like the others here, I have very fond memories playing it with my brother. This seems to be the general opinion here haha. I do like the setting and some of the monster and mutation designs. I haven't played it in YEARS. I'll have to see what I think of it now. I'll rope a buddy in to play it with me lol

Totally agree with what everyone said; it's not a great solo game but it's fantastic as a co-op game and is probably one of the best I ever played back then. It was probably one of the games I played the most on PSN too with the Versus mode being how I made a bunch of early online friends. Many an evening was spent in lobbies on that or in Mercenaries with someone else.

Definitely not what I'd search out for a horror experience but it's a quintessential co-op romp.

Ahhh, you discovered what Crapcom didn't want you do. The game is mediocre, one of the worst Biohazard games but when you are playing coop with your friends next to you everything seems different, the magic starts to blossom, and you feel like Harry Potter the first time he got in Hogwarts. That is something nobody can take from you and you will remember as long as you're alive ::heart

It's been a time where people who gamed were considered lonely souls by the general opinion and that started the very moment developers gave priority to play alone or online than playing coop. Then tons of games arised, amazing games but games that were single player without any intention of giving any cooperative mechanics because the world wanted us to be alone.

But from time to time, a developer knows how does that feel, and gives us hope releasing a game fun to play with the intention we play it with friends, family or whoever we want to sit next to us.

And we usually don't care, what type of game is that or if the game has big or low budget, from the moment we start playing we forget everything and embrace a feeling so satisfying that we can't get enough of it :3

I think its also because the combat system gives you plenty of ways for the two players to express themselves

Since every hit staggers the enemy, and you must stay still when shooting so you must commit to the shot, and if you hit the right spot both players can do the melee QTE; you can reach a point where you're in perfect synch with each other

Plus it plays into the inventory mechanic, because you have to decide if you wanna use the same weapons, or whos gonna be the shotgun guy; and trade on the fly and argue over whole picks up what

And theres a bunch of cheesy stuff you can do like drop the insta kill gate on player 2, use him as a human shield by spamming resuscitate, cuck him out of ammo, make him do ring around the rosie to aggro the gatling man while you magnum it..

Not to mention double wesker mercenaries

Double the wesker, Double the saturation

Game looked interesting to me playing as Chris alone looks like it's worth a try Idk about you but voice acting in RE1 is so bad it's good especially Rebecca

The ps3 era...

I grew up with a school buddy playing ps1/2, always had something to fire up

Then the ps3 came about, I was always looking at my sheld scratching my head thinking "Theres nothing!"
Aside from fighting games there was the odd lifesaver like little big planet and resistance 2 (cod 5 you could also play the whole thing in co op, only problem is the game's pretty shallow mechanic-wise)

The wii was the last console I remember, where a good chunk of its games I could play with friends

Yeah I could never play it by myself. That being said
