The Celebration rom hack made me want to play it again. Started the Green version. Enjoying the QoL updates like running, lol. And that cheat candy helps with getting rid of the grind. It's as addictive as I remember. And the music is nostalgic too. Not sure if I'll play it through the end, but being able to get all 151 without any of that cable link trading nonsense is pretty nice too.

Goddamn, definitely wasn’t expecting anyone replaying gen 1 after so much time. I know the gen like the back of my hand and got the full dex many times, but I mostly just play gens 3-5 now as they’re the most comfortable with gen 4 being my favorite since it keeps in tact all the classic stuff while having the most QoL out of older Pokémon stuff. I replay all gens with hacks that enable all mons to be catchable though. (Similarly, I’d only replay older DQ games with patches that fix bugs and text)
It’s a good call to play gen 1 with hacks, I love kadabra but I think missing out on golem, gengar and machamp can suck as they’re all strong in their own ways. Gen 1 is definitely a wild ride from start to finish so good luck there.

A long time ago when that website came out where you draft Pokemon teams and play against other in ranked battles, I was super into Hearthstone and playing in really high Legend tournaments. My friend told me he stopped doing the same because the Pokemon site's competitive scene really picked up and it's far less roll of the dice metaslaving.

I loved Pokemon as a kid, never played any of the games growing up. Figured I'd try out the ranked battles, but when I saw just how many Pokemon exist... I mean, I know the first generation just fine. I watched the show like crazy growing up. I think that was Indigo League? Regardless, I don't know where to start with Pokemon.

Something I really dislike is how you're pretty much donefor if someone uses water against your fire. Or whatever. So I don't even know basic team compositions because the amount of Pokemon is just overwhelming.

I'd be down to get into it if there was ever anyone with a comprehensive guide that you guys know about. And I'd be down to run Gen 1 as well. Is Green a romhack?

Yeah, that one!
I've never played any of the Pokemon games after silver but I play on Pokemon showdown occasionally. I like the random battles. I found it was a good way to learn all the new Pokemon stuff without the pressure of having to make teams and things. The random battle mayhem matches are pretty fun too. Those are what I usually play on there.

Los invito a jugar Pokemmo alli estan todas las generaciones hasta la 5, todas interconectadas

I just recently did another run of vanilla Yellow version after like, 20 years. It was a little rough - I'll have to look into Celebration. Are there any other hacks that anyone recommends?

I played the heck out of the first and second generations on the GBC, but couldn't bring myself to playing them again. QoL improvements from future generations/remakes really spoiled me.
