Watched it twice. One back when Volume 5 was the newest and the other when Volume 9 wasn't out yet. Never watched Volume 9, but I mentally tapped out at Volume 7, and it showed when I often had to repeat parts because I missed something. RWBY was a victim of "feature creep," which a term usually applied to a part of game development when you want to add this mechanic, then this mechanic, then that mechanic but also that mechanic. Mess from the start. I remember when the shutdown first occurred and people were theorising public domain, which I high-key kinda wish happened. It would allow indie animators and/or game devs to reboot the canon at their own will or take some of the neglected parts and do something with them (like dust). As is though, it's a badass soundtrack that comes with a mediocre anime.I used to think that this one had SO MUCH promise, and I'd watch it religiously just to see what crazy, action-packed thing would happen next... But then I realized that it was going nowhere fast, and that it had a thing for self-destructing every time it even threatened to get good, resulting in me watching for inertia rather than genuine engagement after the inexplicably great Volume III ending.
And now that Rooster Teeth is gone, I'm plagued with the bitter feeling that I just wasted my time watching something that isn't even getting an ending. It was good while the late, great Monty Oum gave us amazing fights to watch, but after his untimely passing, everything felt like a shell of conflicting ideas and poor execution that seemed almost compounded by some of the most toxic work environments ever revealed
It's sad, really... the sole idea of a web content creator launching a full animated series seemed like the stuff of legends. Of accomplishing the ultimate dream.
What's your opinion on the show, though? Ever watched it? Gave it a chance and then dropped it? Stuck with it in case it finally delivered? Or avoided it like the plague?
That was genuinely a really good moment. They were really on top of their game for the last stretch of V3.When Yang got her arm cut off? I cried ?
Essentially what happened XDthis is starting to sound like some edgy teenagers got a hold of some 3d modeling software and started animating whatever sounded "deep and mature".
There was a couple people who held the entire Rooster Teeth team together and was good at animating, and they died back in early 2015.this is starting to sound like some edgy teenagers got a hold of some 3d modeling software and started animating whatever sounded "deep and mature".
Yeah, that was really messed up.Screwing multiple characters and never making headway...
i heard about monty passing away. it is quite sad that he left before getting to do more. they should have tried to find someone to come in and try to keep everything on track. and some people who can write a story. maybe things will improve for them. hopefully.I watched some of RWBY. Season 1 was good. Season 2 was.... okay... Somewhere in season 3 i gave up.
The problem i had was they never seemed to gain headway, never seemed to have anything really go for them. Especially during the Arena fight where some characters died. Then when the spear/shield girl lost her ability having it stolen from her, i just threw the entire series in the garbage.
Foreshadowing and challenging is one thing. Screwing multiple characters and never making headway...
Mind you i loved some of the depictions and power ideas and ideas, much like Marvel and DC heroes. But alas no.
Currently the Anime RWBY that was done last year was very well done, and i hope it stays with the same quality and story telling.

Monty Oum. After that the entire thing and projects and stories and Red vs Blue fell apart.
According to Shane Newville (a close friend and associate of Monty's), the company basically took over after his passing and made a point out of removing anyone even remotely associated with the show and its creator. i wouldn't doubt it. people who come in and have no investment in something will always run it into the ground. star wars fans have seen that first hand.According to Shane Newville (a close friend and associate of Monty's), the company basically took over after his passing and made a point out of removing anyone even remotely associated with the show and its creator. I know nothing about RWBY, I just know some of the characters because they in BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle.
Ruby is cute and I love Neo Politan
I just heard that the Rooster Teeth brand is up for grabs again, and one of the former owners may be looking to buy... huh.
