I used to think that this one had SO MUCH promise, and I'd watch it religiously just to see what crazy, action-packed thing would happen next... But then I realized that it was going nowhere fast, and that it had a thing for self-destructing every time it even threatened to get good, resulting in me watching for inertia rather than genuine engagement after the inexplicably great Volume III ending.

And now that Rooster Teeth is gone, I'm plagued with the bitter feeling that I just wasted my time watching something that isn't even getting an ending. It was good while the late, great Monty Oum gave us amazing fights to watch, but after his untimely passing, everything felt like a shell of conflicting ideas and poor execution that seemed almost compounded by some of the most toxic work environments ever revealed

It's sad, really... the sole idea of a web content creator launching a full animated series seemed like the stuff of legends. Of accomplishing the ultimate dream.

What's your opinion on the show, though? Ever watched it? Gave it a chance and then dropped it? Stuck with it in case it finally delivered? Or avoided it like the plague?

I like the main character design and had some cool fighting scenes. I only watched a few episodes and I'm never going to bother to finish it. (Not that's even possible anyway)

I adored RWBY.
But I will never forgive the staff for wasting the final season (They were painfully aware of RoosterTeeth's financial woes during its development) on an extended Alice & Wonderland dream sequence and a two part Justice League cross over.
Instead of producing anything that resembles a finale, instead of trying to resolve literally any of the narrative threads RT just ended it with meaningless filler.
Oh, and a failed hashtag campaign for yet another season under the false promise of a resolution 😡

For all of its greatness, the writers had no respect for the audience and that is RWBY's legacy.

I couldn't agree more, dude.

That final push felt disrespectful as hell for anyone who stuck with it.

Trailers are the best thing about the series tbh. I also like the bb cross tag characters.
I watched it until the S4 I think, but it was going nowhere like you said. Didn't even know that it ended lol.

Here's a really good take for anyone wondering what the hell this even is:

Aaah yes, the hbomberguy video. It's the reason I never bothered to come back to it.

Is this video the one that has nearly inaudible Bomberman 64 music in the background?

I've never seen any form of media be granted the gift of knowing its getting a final season and going "Lol we don't need that"
So many shows, films, games, novels etc have been cancelled without being blessed with a chance of creating a conclusion and RWBY just put its hands over its ears and managed to produce nothing of value in an entire season and two films.

The last ever shot seen in RWBY is of the Justice League 🙃

Never watched it. I preemptively dismissed it as wannabe anime made by Westerners. Judging by what others here have said I dodged a bullet apparently.

The only thing related to Rooster Teeth I ever watched regularly was Michael's Rage Quit.

What the hell is this.

It IS extremely baffling. There's even some weird surface-level fan service in there with Neo, a character sidelined for most of the show's runtime and then brought back for the sake of righting the sinking ship.

I loved those (along with "Things To Do In GTA V", which convinced a friend to get a PS3 lol), but I hated Gavin messing up on purpose.

What the hell is this.

RWBY ends with the Salem (the villain) winning
Followed by an entire season worth of filler that was supposed to set up a time skip that will never be resolved.
Then the Justice League crossed over thanks to Multiverse shenanigans with absolutely no context as to how or when this occurred in the RWBY Timeline.

The show doesn't have a finale.
It doesn't even end in any conventional sense It just had TWO entire feature length adventures dedicated to DC Comics and then production ceased ☠️

That sounds even worse than ReBoot's ending, where the main badguy Megabyte wins and the series doesn't get picked up for another season.

Reboot my beloved.

See, RWBY Fills me with impotent nerd rage

Reboot well. There is a hole in my heart.
But I can still whole heartedly recommend Reboot as unlike RWBY it had conclusions to its arc's. Flawlessly executed conclusions. I'm looking at you Season 3.
That's how you do a finale. Everything we got afterwards was just a bonus.

I remember when people argued about whether it was anime or just 3D slob. I remember people like Caleb Hyles doing covers of its theme songs. And I also remember really liking the show.

The art style was refreshing and allowed for some pretty awesome scenes. The characters were likeable, not too cliche and quite divers. They all had interesting backstories and depth.

Despite all of those positives, I can't for the life of me remember what the main story was even about. All I can think of is them enrolling in a school, to suddenly doing road trips. Who were the bad guys? I don't know. The show was really promising, but it only ever delivered more promises and I feel like most of its episodes were filler or exposition.

I'm really sad it never grew into something more.
