When I state remakes ... I mean like totally new animation ... not Dragon Ball Kai cheap budget (and controversy) nonsense :/
And also the series that are doing their best to stick to the manga storyline

I saw a reddit post that asked a similar question but ... it wasn't as in-depth as I was hoping it'd be
There was also another list I saw on myanimelist but ... that doesn't seem updated either

Anyway !
So far I've seen Hunter x Hunter, Sailormoon, Full Metal Alchemist, Ranma 1/2, Shaman King, and more recently ... Ruroni Kenshin
I've enjoyed all of them for the most part since it's nice watching them in more modern animation
Though I know there's still those that prefer the 90s classic originals or early 2000s

Also is there like a list of what's been redone so far?
Someone tried to ask this on reddit but didn't get that much responses
I checked myanimelist but it's not updated

Me ranting lol ~
I'm sure these scenes weren't animated because they can only fit so much in an episode ... but still !
I guess my only irks I have for these remakes is ... for whatever reason ... the animation studio removed what I would say was very informative scenes ... or were drastically tone down despite the rating already being TV-MA

Examples -
Shaman King > Chocolove's Indio Commune scene is totally missing in the anime ... but when I read it in the manga it goes in-depth as to why he needed to go through that to get Pascual to be his guardian spirit
Full Metal Alchemist > It would've been nice that they added more scenes when they showed the last days of Xerxes since the manga provided more in-depth conversations with Van Hohenheim and the Homunculus
Sailormoon > In Cosmos ... when Princess Kakyuu got killed in the manga ... the reaction of Sailormoon in the anime movie didn't match up ... I cause because they didn't want to make her death as brutal ?

Hmmm curious topic.

Full Metal Alchemist was an interesting case for a remake. At first i disliked the idea of it back in 2015 when it was on TV, but then i noticed they were underground with horses and certain norther soldiers... i then quoted lines directly from the manga and they lined up. Then i knew what the series was, and instantly changed my interest level.

You see, originally FMA the anime was coming out before the manga was even done. So the anime group (or whoever) make up their own end story and plot twists. Up to the point they meet Greed the manga and anime basically are correct. Afterwards it's all made up, and you can tell as it feels rough.

However FMA Brotherhood followed the manga to a T, just lacking 2 episodes (and the first episode not really fitting, but like a lot of animes they want to show you an action scene and what the show is about to hook you into the series even if it breaks lore/linearity a bit); Namely The Train episode, and the overthrow of the mines (both of which can be viewed from the original and you get basically what was missing).

Things have come a long ways since 10 years ago...

Hunter X Hunter definitely. I love the animation of the old one though, much more fluid. The new one is what some people are used to, but I still kinda like the old one more

Yeah there was something about the 1999 version that made it so much more in-line with the manga !
Kinda wish they didn't stop after the Greed Island arc ... I'm curious how the Chimera Arc would've been in that style ! But eh ... we know how Togashi is :(

Something i noticed, is that they tend to have pacing issues, the older versions tend to be too slow, and the newer versions, too fast.

Shaman King for example, when i watched the remake as it was airing, i was surprised with how quickly everything was moving, with a quick snap of the fingers, they were already fighting Ren's dad.

The only thing i remember about the original Ruroni Kenshin anime, is not liking it, and the first season of the remake made me wonder if i was too harsh on it, but the second season... Has reminded me quite well...

I also feel like they were more liberal with filler before, and ever since Naruto Shippuden was meme for it, they have calmed down with that crap, don't know about One Piece tho.
