A big part of my childhood was racing those things on parks and backyards with my friends, ramming our expensive, battery-draining toys into one another just to complete the races, much to our parents' annoyance. It was like an actual sport, and we played it like one, too.

What about you? Ever raced those, or even played with them? I still have my champion stored away somewhere, never to be powered on again (can't afford 10 batteries lol).

It was never a hobby or anything but I was always jealous of people who had them. I remember buying one of those RC cars that could drive upside down when I was like 10 or 11, where the front wheels could like rotate to accommodate the orientation. It didn't exactly look quite like this but I remember having lots of fun with it an entire summer, until it got so worn down that the tires couldn't rotate at all anymore. It looked like a little dying wingless bug at the end.

I have one as a birthday present, albeit the battery is busted and the remote is missing haha. Grandpa had an empty warehouse back then, we used race around when the family gathers.

My dad had a pretty good one when I was younger, but it would take like ten hours to charge the battery and we always forgot, so it was a rare time when he would go zip it around.
I don't think I ever had an RC car, but I had a thing called RC Radskate, which was a dude on a skateboard instead of a car. If it sounds really goofy, that's because it was. It was slow and barely did anything, but I was way into skateboarding and thought this thing could do more than the commercial showed, heh. Dumb kid.

I tried playing Re-Volt as a result of this thread and wow... It doesn't even come close to the real experience. Actually kinda fascinated by that, as a lot of games can recreate much more complicated things with ease.

I guess that's because I can actually race an RC Car in real life, whilst I can't fire a weapon at random or carjack someone without going to jail XD

The closest thing I had was a battery powered toy truck kind of thing. Not really RC though.
