Synopsis:

RAVENSBURG is a fast-hitting RPG inspired by camp and class B horror movies of the early 2000s. Step into a city turned upside down by a terrifying Gnostic cult as a vampire sent by the Church to defeat the diabolical menace. You're the last resort, the pill that is too hard to swallow, the cure bitter than the sickness. And you must save the City before the Demiurgic forces destroy it completely. Survive this blend of Gothic horror, Lovecraftian tale and anime aesthetics with the help of your 11 charismatic companions, each with their own personality and agenda, forge friendships or more with them as you work together to reclaim the city.

Embody Valdrich, a vampire with a gift for fighting and a rather questionable talent for thinking, and Kazia, his loyal companion with a lethal aim, but whose patience is shorter than the lives of their enemies.

Features:

  • Lovecraftian Horror x Anime: The best of anime-inspired visuals and characters with the best of Gothic and Lovecraftian horror mixed in a single game.
  • Form Your Perfect Team: Assemble your party from a cast of 11 playable characters. Each character brings unique skills and abilities you can customize.
  • Relationship System: Develop your relation with your companions, each with their own stories, ambitions, and secrets. Gain their loyalty or affection, either through deeds or interactions with them.
  • Thrilling Main Story: Uncover the dark truth behind the cult's power through a layered narrative filled with Lovecraftian mysteries and Charismatic Antagonists.
  • Stylish Gothic Art & Atmosphere: The femenine beauty of holy statues clashes with the atrocities committed by the Cult and decadent buildings towering the dark sky in this richly detailed world.
  • Open World and Eldritch Mystery: Investigate chilling encounters, solve companion quests, and confront the city's horrors using your own skills and strategies to shape your journey with open-ended freedom.
  • Unforgiving Combat: Engage in intense turn-based battles against unspeakable horrors. Use your resources strategically to survive deadly encounters, unlock new districts, and upgrade your party’s skills and equipment.
  • Mansion Exploration: Discover +25 unique rooms in Ravenstein, the Gothic mansion that serves as your main base. Each offering lore, new skills, resources and opportunities to interact with your companions.
  • Original Soundtrack: A haunting, melancholic but energic soundtrack composed by the talented composer Devil Mistakes

Aw man, regional restrictions mean it's not even available to take a gander at over here.

Friggin' idiotic ratings board power grab sabotaging indies...
That sucks. Can’t play FF16 for this reason. (Well, not that I’m an FF fan but Y’know, options are nice)

I didn't realize we were big enough for indie devs to notice us and promote themselves here. Cool beans.
Indie devs sometimes promote in the most unexpected of places, easiest example being that multiple were shown off on 4chan like Katawa Shoujo, so it's not entirely unbelievable. Forums are arguably one of the best places to get criticism both due to the smaller pool giving you more interesting answers and also because of the flex because if you can get a place like 4chan to say your game is fire, there's a good road ahead of you.

Katawa Shoujo was made by 4chan users so I wouldn't say it's the best example but I get your point.

RAVENSBURG is now available on Itch.io! https://lilianduleroux.itch.io/ravensburg

For those who couldn't access the game previously due to regional restrictions, now is fully available here. Same discount as in Steam, with the up-to-date version of the game.

Also, thanks to positive reception the game will be receiving a free content update with new locations and side quests! I will wait until tomorrow to have more work done on drawings and tiles before announcing it.
You had me at gothic lmao
Nice to see other Gothic enjoyers out there, is not the most common genre ever.
I really like the art. Always happy to see more traditional RPGs come out.
Thanks! Art is my strong point, but I also love RPGs and all their mechanical trickery. The sexiness is a nice incentive for all players to bear with a bit of grinding or a tough enemy. And because it would be weird for a game inspired in B-movies to don't have even a bit of it.
Stickied. Indie devs deserve to be promoted.
Hey, thanks! ::coolstafy

Regional restrictions and ratings are a bitch in general (if you pardon my language). They will give hard restrictions to indie games, then some AAA game with the right connections and the most gruesome scenes ever gets an easy pass.

But I don't get discouraged easily. Now the game is available on Itch.io for everyone.

Currently I've posted on almost every site imaginable. Even on 4chan. Forums and imageboards might not be as sanitized but they have real enthusiasts who care about niche games like this one. Which is a huge advantage over more mainstream social media despite the difference in numbers. Also, I'm a fan of retro games myself.
