I'm not very knowledgeable on racing games. Those and conquest/territorial takeover games are where my brain loses interest typically. But your biggest flaw should always be your biggest priority! For fixing, not spiraling. For now.

Anyway.
For now, I'd like some racing game recommendations. So far the only game I've tried is Auto Modellista for the PS2. It's pretty tight. So I'd like some more! Thank you!

Burnout 3.

For a more realistic kind of racing game, Gran Turismo 2 is the one I remember most. Forza Motorsport also, if you're leaning to the Xbox brand.

My personal favorite racer is F-Zero GX on Gamecube. Difficult, and a no-nonsense futuristic racer that offers a wide variety of unlockables to look forward to. Sega's Amusement Vision division (now known as Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, which you may have heard of from Super Monkey Ball and the Yakuza games) developed the game, so it has that classic Sega, arcade-oriented gameplay.

In terms of more traditional racing fare, I recommend Gran Turismo 4. Simulation mode gives you lots of cars to buy and mess around with.

Ridge Racer 5 is extremely cool. R4 Ridge Racer Type 4 is extremely fun. Crash Team Racing is the ultimate cart racer to this very day!

Others have already mentioned several of my favorites, so shoutouts to them 🙌

My Picks:

Ridge Racer Type 4 (PS1)
F-Zero GX (Gamecube)
Road Rash (PS1 / Saturn)
Sega Rally (Saturn) / Sega Rally 2 (Dreamcast)
Wipeout Pulse (PSP) / Wipeout HD & Fury (PS3)

Ridge Racer V is a great arcade racer with a really tight driving model. It rewards consistency.

Midnight club 3 is the best at being an absurd arcade racer while also having a rather in depth customization system.

Gran turismo 3 is a pretty solid carpg and a pretty good simulator.

Also try the JP or EUR version of Auto Modellista. They have a more grippy handling model thats arguably a better experience.

Two vampires in a row giving me racing suggestions. Should I be.. scared?

Anyway- thank you, everyone!
This has given me a good start. I'll ask my friend if he knows/likes any of these; use it as sort of a pool of games to stay in to make choosing easier.

From personal enjoyment, I recommend.

-Burnout Revenge
For the sense of speed, being able to slam pedestrian cars into opponents (something only found in this game and nowhere else in the series). If you dislike the grity aesthetics, try other games in the series.

-Outrun 2 (any version)
Good sense of speed and I really like the drifting. Not much of a racing game, more of a relaxed driving game than anything else.

Also worth knowing, don't expect realism with either of these games, just my personal favorites.

Daytonaaaaaaaaa USA

if you plan to play it in Saturn, please avoid the first version and play the Championship Edition instead

One that is not usually recommended, it is even a little forgotten; but it is fantastic.

I’d say you should definitely play the midnight club. Peak arcade racing. Really can’t go wrong with those.
