So, I want to play some of the Pokémon games I still have on this DS I just bought. I also don’t want to delete my childhood save files. I have a modded 3DS with Universal Updater and PKSM. I’ve extracted save data before from my cartridges, and I’ll need to make a thread asking how to play those files with digital copies of the games through TwilightMenu++.

My question is this: if I extract and save a file I have on my old cartridge onto my 3DS, then delete that file to start a new one, would I ever be able to flash that old save file back onto the cartridge again?

There is a method to extracting .sav files from games and saving them on your computer, AND then using that same file to a cartridge. I saw someone do it for a NES game so I am sure it is possible for NDS. Though BE EXTRA WARNED, as Nintendo has successfully got a person who hacked a pokemon save file Prisoned and Fined. -_-

yes you can, there is a lot of way of backing up savedate from cartridges. DS ones can be via godmode9 and 3ds ones can be via checkpoint. And yes, you can reflash your old saves back again :3

I found the news story. It was a Japanese man who was selling the saves online. For me, I’m doing this for private use so that I can essentially have multiple save files for one game that I don’t plan to connect to the internet (not that you can anymore on DS unless it’s fan servers).

That’s right! GodMode9! And yeah, I’ll look into flashing the saves back on the carts just so that I know it’s possible. The big thing is that I want to play the game without worrying about losing my most important childhood save file.

Keep that in mind when expecting a reply from the people on it,
You can also start a new thread instead. This is just a heads-up, bumping is allowed in this forum.
