PSP PSP hidden gems?

WTF: Work Time Fun

It's a bunch of mini games where you earn money to buy trinkets from vending machines.

It's really weird but at the same time really fun.

- Infected, pretty strange but catchy gameplay and good soundtrack
- OMG-Z (minis game) kind of chain reaction zombie shooter

Gitaroo Man Lives was mentioned in the first post, but I strongly recommend not only play US or EU version, but JP version as well because as far as I remember some songs in it are a bit different.

Don't know if they'd be considered hidden gems, but since their patches were released somewhat recently:
  • Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity: if you're on that Diablo grinding mood, this game is incredible. One of those "turn your brain off and relax" kind of games. Lots of weapons, incredible mmo-like customization and loads of missions. The story is... surprisingly decent too!
  • Fate/Extra CCC: Extra is translated and it's... fine. An interesting translation of the Fate/Stay Night premise to gameplay, with lots of caveats. CCC flips the table, and while the gameplay is somewhat similar (that atrocious combat hasn't changed much), the story is way more engaging and the characters are much more interesting. Do be warned that it's a fairly NSFW game, especially compared with the previous entry, but while I'm usually very annoyed with fanservice in general for some reason I just find it endearing here. The patch is downright incredible too.

It's not an exclusive and it's nowhere on the tier of a proper game like a lot of the mentions, but Age of Zombies was one that always stuck with me from the PSP. It was one of two PSP Minis that I ever bought and I ended up blasting through it time and time again. It's short, there's not much to it, but it's absolutely perfect for short bursts of arcadey gameplay.

Kenka Banchou series (and it's spin-offs) and 2 Ikki Tousen games.

I gotta say Resistance: Retribution.

I would say it's nostalgia for me, but I download to pass time in school, and man I forgot how good it was.

I dare say, it feels like playing, uh, Gears of War for the psp? But yeah, I don't see many people talking about it.

LORD OF ARCANA MENTIONED 🔥🔥🔥
Yeah, have gone through the prologue of this and it is exciting gameplay. At the town now after forgetting all I knew, of course. Good idea to use the prologue as a hook (Lord of Arcana). We'll see how it goes.

Thumbs up for Puzzle Quest. Actually finished it, and that's a rare enough thing for me, these days. Blade Dancer, I tried, didn't grab me but there is probably more meat in it's bones, as you said.

2nd Super Robot Wars Z series, too bad it only got chinese translation.

Kisou Ryouhei Gunhound EX, the final boss music is better known as "The Justice Ray Part 5" in the shmup community.

Also, Yggdra Union for PSP is an improvement of the GBA version. Upgraded music, new stages for hard mode and extra characters hidden during the stages.
