I decided to go with Okinawa as Rekka birthplace, I have been researching the unique culture and history of the region and I'm trying to incorporate it into her story. As you can see I haven't add Rekka's Special Skill or Most Unpleasant yet as I couldn't come out with anything. I'll expand on Madō and Kyūshiryū in a while but they are pretty much made up. [HR][/HR] [automerge]1760322550[/automerge] • Background: Onizuka Rokurō, “The Killing Demon,” was a legendary fighter who raised hell throughout Japan with nothing but his fists and his boundless ambition before being defeated by the united efforts of the greatest martial artists of his generation. Barely surviving the fight that put an end to his reign of terror and with his fighting spirit crushed, Rokurō went into hiding in the dojo where he was born, deep inside the mountains of Okinawa, waiting for death to take him. Many decades into his exile, during one of his walks through the mountains, Rokurō's path crossed with a baby crawling through the woods, without a sign of their parents but with a dumb smile on their face. Seeing himself reflected in the lost child and convinced that it was some kind of sign, he decided to adopt the infant and raise it as his own with the intention of creating a worthy successor to whom he could pass down the work of his life: Madō. Rekka proved to be a prodigy at a young age, thriving under the brutal training and conditioning that would have easily killed an average person. Through her own strength, she earned the pride of her master, who grew to love her as his own daughter as the years flew by. Once her training was complete, Rekka had to face one final test to earn her independence: a fight to the death against her master. The fight lasted an entire day, concluding in the death of Rokurō at Rekka's hands. After burying her master, Rekka descended from the mountains and immediately started her journey, wandering through Japan with nothing but a dream to face worthy opponents, to make friends along the way and to see the beauty of the world with her own eyes. [HR][/HR] Commentary: Rekka's Lore. i'm not sure about it yet but I think it works. Rekka's essentially a Ryu raised by Akuma but with the personality of Elena, if that makes sense. She doesn't need that much depth in my opinion as I don't picture her having much in her head. I'll post next part in shortly. [automerge]1760369563[/automerge] [HR][/HR] • Personality: Cheerful and friendly by nature, Rekka was raised with surprising care and attention but without any actual education or explanation of life outside the mountains, developing into a troublesome and boyish yet sincere and well-intentioned girl with a kind heart. Though raised with the intention of creating the perfect vessel for Madō, Rokurō grew too attached and wasn’t able to bring himself to properly discipline Rekka, much less turn her into the successor he envisioned. Rokurō wasn’t strong enough to be a father and teach Rekka about the real world and his final test was mostly a selfish whim born out of fear Rekka was only allowed to leave the mountains during festivals and celebrations so as not to distract her from her training. The villagers believed she was some kind of mountain spirit, but she was beloved nonetheless and allowed to take part in the festivities. These are some of her most treasured memories, and she made sure to bid farewell to the folks back at the village before starting her journey. She has a very noisy and simple way of speaking. She lacks understanding of things such as sarcasm or irony, and she treats everyone as if they were her friends, without caring about their appearance or reputation. Rekka was raised in an Okinawan household and has some trouble speaking Japanese. Rekka is ultimately innocent, she has no true malice in her heart, but her sense of morality is dubious at best. She is very respectful toward her opponents and wishes nothing but to see how strong they are. She believes that friendship can bloom even in violence and that bonds can be formed through fighting. She is extremely passionate about martial arts and fighting as a whole, dedicating her life to the pursuit of strength. She believes a true fight is one in which both fighters use everything they have at their disposal to win. She believes killing is a waste and that anyone has the potential to become a worthy opponent if given the chance. She wouldn’t feel bad if her opponent were to die from their wounds, just disappointed. Rekka would only actively fight to the death if her opponent were willing to die to achieve victory, as it would be incredibly disrespectful otherwise. She is a Buddhist due to Rokurō’s influence but doesn’t actively practice it. She has a very superficial understanding of the religion as a whole but assumes Buddha to be really strong and wishes to fight him at least once in her lifetime. She has also learned some Shinto beliefs from her time in the village. Rekka can be pretty impulsive, stubborn, and single-minded. She considers violence something natural, yet she can’t stand senseless suffering or unfairness and believes that taking advantage of those who can’t or won’t defend themselves is disgusting. Rekka values authenticity above everything and despises hypocrisy. She tries to understand and rationalize people according to their individual values. She doesn’t have a set morality or strong understanding of good and evil, she values and respects people for what they are and for how interesting they are, yet she can’t reconcile inconsistency.
