PS1 Startup sounded like you were heading to the future, like it was journey to somewhere beyond here (and is the one major drawback to PS2 backwards compatibility, since it skips the best part).

PS2 Startup gives me anxiety, and feels like the top arch of a rollercoaster right before the drop, since it opens up the same whether or not the game works. (It is really fitting to all of the 1st party exclusives, like, almost as if there is no other way to start playing Onimusha or Jak & Daxter, like it was made to promo those games).
 
The PS2 opening makes me feel like I'm diving in and am underwater. I love how it's much more... I dunno, subtle?
Actually, and maybe it's just because I'm an adult now, but I really don't think video games- or technology for that matter- tries to scare the shit outta us any more. Like the Xbox opening was this strange spooky sort of alien that you were awakening.
or the way Valve games would open up with that guy with the valve on his head and he slowly looks back at you...

And for me the PS2 opening is, of the two, my favorite opening BECAUSE it still gives me chills.

PS3 Slim bootup is underrated. As someone who attended a handful of orchestras when I was a child, it hits pretty hard.

Oh also, this is my #1 fave.

The PS1 startup sound was the jingle that welcomed me into adulthood (since it was the first system I ever bought with my own money), so it's easily my favorite of the bunch, with the Dreamcast's coming in as a close second.

The choice for the saturn startup sound made me chuckle.

Personally, I HATED that startup sound and much preferred the more subdued western startup or the Hi-Saturn one.



But the PS1 startup sound will forever be king for me.
