So, let's talk about games that are on your device that you've installed and have no qualms about leaving there permanently, either for sentimental reasons or just because you find them intensely fun/fascinating
hBI1ABG.jpeg

I grew up with a father who worked on computers for a living so older PC titles (and others that invoke that feeling like Spelunky) are something that I cherish immensely. Also love me some "pick up and play" arcade style titles

I have Postal, Papers Please, Minecraft, Counter-Strike 2D, and Dead Road To Canada installed on my phone, even though I rarely play them anymore.

They are just... permanent features on my device.

Probably WoW.
Feels like it never goes enough time of me not playing to justify uninstalling it (together with the hassle of backing up all my addons and screenshots), and it’s usually the first game I install on a new PC.

Man, how in the hell did I somehow not know that No More Heroes was on steam?! Especially when I already had "Killer 7" on my favorites?
Then you may be surprised how much games were brought to Steam these years, surprise more that lots of them are absent on Steam but sold on GOG and get surprised more and more to realize some games were sold on Steam but not anymore!!!

I keep some of the Bethesda/Nightdive Studios ports on my PS4 as they are in low in size.
I deeply appreciate what Nightdive has done for retro-gaming, they seem like good blokes. While I'm not particularly good at Point & Click Adventure Games, I loved the Tex Murphy series and that it's for the most part playable on modern systems

Slay the Spire, Rimworld and Thief 1 and 2 for me.
Also UFO 50, but I feel like that game hasn't been around long enough to qualify yet.

Used to have Factorio in that category as well for a while, but I'm not about that life anymore - I've gone through rehab, I'm living clean now.

TBH it's all about either a point and click adventure game properly developed or developers were having brain fart moment so they had no idea what they were doing.

Play Lost Horizon 1 (don't touch 2nd game lol) and Gemini Rue to enjoy how this genre of games should be developed. Then you may actually notice what you were not good is not the genre but the developers weren't good at developing decent game in that genre lol.

Not much mention of RTS? what can i say only the few chosen ones play the ultimate form of video games

My permanent games are:

1-WarCraft 3 (of course)
2-Red alert 2 (pride of the working class!)
3-Age of mythology (how can i function without a monthly dose of prostagma?)
4-any counter strike game (best FPS NO DEBATE)
5-Diablo 2 (i mean come on man has to hear "arise diablo lord of terror" once in his life)

RTS's for me are like chess, where I really want to play them and get good at them but then everytime I actually play one I'm miserable and hate it. I like the idea, I guess.

I somehow forgot that in my list, oops; I've had that installed for like 3 straight years at this point.

Muv-Luv Alternative :

It's still installed even though I gave up on it a long time ago (it was great but I think I was traumatised by some scenes). Maybe a part of me (my superego probably) wants me to pick it up again or start over from the beginning...

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt :

I've already finished the main content. About ten years ago, on PlayStation 4. Unfortunately, I lost my save before I could do the DLCs. A few years later, I finally bought a PC capable of running it properly. Since then, it's been sitting on my hard drives and I'm waiting for the epiphany, the inspiration to get started

but its always there, somewhere in program files (x86)

as i said only those chosen by the big hand in the sky can play RTS , my RTS elitism aside just take it easy some RTS games aren't too demanding some are slow paced you can relax while playing try age of empires games they are pretty chill.

Stay away from blizzard RTS if you aren't too good at multitasking (Starcraft/WarCraft)

If you like more fast paced but casual RTS , CNC is your go to game very simple mechanics and very badass unit design.

If you want more challenge but very slow pace sudden strike/blitzkrieg might be good for you.

RTS is the highest form of entertainment trust me.

Don't listen to the fools that play games like hearts of iron these are but pseudo intellectuals.

I only played it twice but it's just a must keep

This is going to sound crazy, even probably a little insane, but I GREATLY preferred Diablo 1 to 2. I didn't play Diablo until my 20s and even then I was brought up on WildTangent's Fate demo, which I loved and felt like it improved upon many aspects of the Diablo series (same with Torchlight)

Also don't even mention RTS games to me. I made the mistake of adding Dune: Battle For Arrakis to my Sega Genesis favorites and sunk too much damn time into it. I also own the C&C remastered collection and I obsessed over it for a very long time (same with Dungeon Keeper 1 & 2, though they're a different animal to C&C)

Boom
Power Pete
Looney Labyrinth
Monkey Shines (these are mostly for nostalgia's sake)
Sonic Robo Blast 2 v2.2
SRB2 Kart
Dr. Robotnik's Ring Racers
that Windows game pack with Solitaire, Minesweeper, ect.
DOSBox
SCUMMVM
Sonic Doom (a wad I found while looking for those weird 32X rom hacks of Sonic and Blaze Doom)
Sonic Erazor Zenith Edition (got this one recently)
Streets of Rage Remake
Rurouni Kenshin Sword and Soul (final update) (it's a MUGEN with characters from the anime)
some Zvitor beat em ups
bunch of stuff like that
